finally the rain has melted MOST of that UBER PESKY powdery snow off the lakes and turned it into slush which will be bad now but once it freezes (if ever) will be a nice surface to walk or drive on (: just about everywhere on a lake is easily accisable with a 4x4 vehicle till it starts to freeze up.

Only problem is they're predicting more snow for the next day or 2 so we might be back to where we started.

good point. im thinking some major freezing will be done tonight as there isnt much snow out there anymore and its windy to take the heat off quick.. as soon as the insulation falls from the sky were probably back to square 1 unless it blows off.

you are correct. while we may benefit from the rain as fishermen the partridge for example need the snow cover for keeping warm in fridgid situations. it is very difficult for them to get under the crust which the rain forms on top of the snow. so it has its ups and certainly it's downs. good luck.
