Probably not. Additionally, the portage is partially in the wilderness so it would only be legal to travel up to the wilderness boundary.

It really isn't that far of a hike across the portage and in my limited experience it usually isn't too tough to walk on.

My bad, I missed the "to" and thought you wanted to drive over the portage.

Hopefully somebody that has been out there lately will post on ice thickness / conditions. Seemed like the lake was making good ice early.

I have not been up that way but after our last snow storm slush is starting to show up on some areas of the lake.

The trip between Moccasin Point and the Portage usually has a few slush spots on most bad years.

I know the lake has a 25hp motor limit, can you bring a snowmobile in there that has a motor under 25hp?

Not sure if that's a serious question, but the answer is no. No motors at all in winter. smile

No it was a seroius question, my buddy has an older sled that is under 25hp and we were throwing around the idea, so I figured I would ask before I came all the way up and found out.

Steve, this makes sense to me! If you can't have a boat with a bigger motor to keep the speed down, then why not a slower sled to keep the speed down! wink
