Bear application in MN

Scoot

Recommended Posts

I'm a ND resident and I applied for a bear tag last year- no draw for me. As I understand it, I get a preference (or bonus- not sure which one) point in MN for applying and not drawing. If I don't apply this year, will I lose that point? How long will my point last if I don't apply for a while again?

If you don't apply that point stays with you...however if you know you are not going to be able to hunt this upcoming season you can apply for zone 99, to gain another preference point...that will give you one more preference point...you can apply for that zone every year if you wish and each year gain one more point...when you're ready and know you can hunt, apply for the zone of your choice and you should almost be guaranteed to draw if you have two or more preference points.

I'd hoped you'd reply to this, lichen- I knew you'd know. I can't remember- who much does it cost to apply for the pref point only (zone 99)?
