Coming up late February-have a question

Recommended Posts

We are making our first trip to LOW the last weekend of February. We are renting a sleeper from a resort north of Baudette by the river, and we are curious how the fishing usually is by the river that time of year? They said the house will be around 18-22 feet deep in late Feb. How is the Walleye/Sauger/Perch action in that depth at that time of year normally? Thanks for any help!

If the fish have started to make their way back towards the river at that point fishing can be awesome, but if I recall that usually happens more in March.

Your resort will definately put you where they think the fish are. At that time year it could be in 36' or 20'. Fishing on the northern reefs start heating up at that time as well. I would guess there is a good chance you are in a different depth than 18-22' when it comes time for your trip. Timing is a little different every year.

I would rather fish the reefs that time of year but the resorts do not pull their sleepers that far north - 20 some miles, but you should do pretty good though. The resorts at LOW try their best to keep the houses on fish. Good luck and have fun!
