gull lake in front of ernies

Recommended Posts

I heard tonight from a friend out there that there is only 8-10 inches of ice. I found that hard to believe but he's out there. No truck traffic yet.

I,ve found that once you move past any of the main lake shoreline breaks, you'll find 8 - 10 inches of ice, could be less in some areas but I have not found more than 10 in the open lake.

My last pass through Hole in the Day we measured around the contest site and found anywhere from 13 inches on the inner edge and 10 on the outer edges. Found 9 1/2 as we got to our spots in the main lake.

At this moment I'm 1/3 of a mile out in front of Ernie's. I just checked thickness in several spots and found anywhere from 10 to 12 1/2 inches of clear ice. Several full size trucks are driving all around the area. A few people have plowed out to their houses, but there isn't much need. The snow isn't very deep and it's pretty easy getting around out here.
