I went out to Big Cormornat this afternoon for a few hours, stood on the ice like an [PoorWordUsage] while my nice heated portable house sat in my garage in Moorhead. I was trying out my new Arctic Armour ice suit. One of the heavy duty red ones I bought at Scheels. It was impressivly warm, the only cold thing on my were my feet, because i got some snow down my boot. Fishing however was only luke warm, I got a decent amount of sunnies, blue gills, and crappies. Was in about 6 feet of water in the weeds using waxies and red gulp baits. It was a good day on the water. Better if not in the wind. As far as location, I was in the bay off of Holiday Beach. 8-10" inches of ice if I had to guess. I didnt pay much attention because I walked out from my Bosses driveway.

Just talked to a buddy who is angling on BC right now - 19 feet. Says the northerns are going crazy. Caught a 7lb 12oz, 3.5 and a few others. Walleyes are still sluggish - looking at the bait then swimming away. Maybe the approaching storm will help???? Says people are driving all over from the west access.

It has been spotty for me so far. I got some nice size early but released them. Moved the house then got into an active group and caught three nice eaters. Went back the next morning and night -- no weather chance and no eyes. Kinda strange.

Brought the family out to LOW for the first time this past week. Got back as the big storm hit but only got to fish one day and it was BAD. Oh well the kids had fun playing on the big rock ... I hope to get up there again this winter.

Good luck Walleye Inn -- Let me know how you are doing up there.

Well made it out this afternoon and found lake travel to be very difficult. Made it out to the house and wanted to move to another location but wasn't able to make it there, little to much snow. Settled for a spot closer to shore. There's a little flooding out there in spots. Snowmobile travel would be best for awhile. Caught a few perch and marked a few others.

Was out Sunday to west access - what a mess. There were 4-6 inches of slush/water where you drive onto the ice. Deep ruts in the snow - full of water. Walked to the houses about 3/4 mile away. Fairly deep snow with water underneath almost the entire way. As soon as you cut a hole the water comes gushing up. People who haven't blocked up their houses are going to be in for a big surprise when the finally get back out there. This is going to take some serious cold weather to get hard enough to drive on.

My brother was out on the north end this morning and when he drilled holes he said about 4 inches of water sat on top of the ice. He got stuck trying to get to his house. He said the snow is hard.

conditions do not sound any better than from when i was out there on 1/3. Big mess with that water under the snow and on top of the ice.

Buzzo,

Doesn't sound good for the weekend. I hope you are ready to give up the locations of your honeyholes! I don't plan on driving that far to go swimming. wink

It is garbage. Fishing has been getting worse and worse yet more and more people seem to be "visiting" me.

Last five trips ... zero eyes.

Is a person able to drive onto the lake and get anywhere with truck from the west side boat landing?
