What is the slush level?

Recommended Posts

What are you seeing for slush on our St. Cloud area lakes. I've heard Pearl and Clearwater have several inches worth and some are having to block up their houses to stay above it. I was surprised to hear that it was bad enough for that to happen..

Its starting to get bad out there. With the predicted snow later this week things could go from bad to the worse. I have 2 permanent houses out and if we get another blast, I think I am going to pull them home and see how things firm up! Travel is also getting treachorous been putting the Chevy some real tests lately! eek

I was out yesterday on Horseshoe and there was 6" of slush under 5" of powder. If not for snowmobile tracks I would not have pulled my Clam flip over out as far as I did. It was kind of fun making a live well out of slush to put my walleye in! My coworker at Cabela's was on Pelican and he said there are spots where there is a foot of standing water on the ice!

I was on Elk last night and it's not too bad out there except around the groups of houses and was on Horseshoe today and lets just say there is lots of water between the snow and ice all over the lake.

Yes I was on the Elk by briggs. Few small crappies and walleyes and a bunch of snakes. I was fishin close to the mid lake rock hump. 12-14in of ice with a good road going out onto the lake to the comunity hole.

Went out on Big Swan yesterday near St. Rose. Ice was 15" or so, but there was a good 4 inches of slush. And tons of powder/snow drifts. Was on the lake with a '06 f150. There were a few spots the slush got bad and the passengers got real scared because of the water noise.

Bring something to put your feet on when you are in the house or you will get cold feet from your boots being in a couple inches of water.

What time of day were you out there? What time did you pick up the most crappies and walleyes?

I was just out on Little Watab today and the ice conditions have actually gotten better. The slush is gone along with most of the snow. You will want ice cleats on now because of all the icy bumps but at least the slush seemed to be gone in the area that I was fishing. You can actually use the ATVs again and hopefully trucks.
