Could a guy get out on Okabena, or better yet ocheda this weekend. I think Ocheda would be a great early ice spot with tipups for pike. It woulnd't be very deep and tip-ups a little ways from shore would be perfect with early ice.

skip ocheda....head to lake bella if you want pike...might even hit a couple croppies or a walleye here or there

I've often looked and thought about Bella, but have never met or talked to anyone who fished it. Is it worth a hoot?

I've only ice fished it a couple times....during the summer there are some good sized fish in there...just a matter of finding em...if you launch from the park on the south side we would always find fish straight out just north of the spillway....otherwise if you go north a little farther theres a shallow point where the fish like to hang out

I noticed on wood lake today there was still some geese that had a open spot

Lime and Okabena are the same. Lots of geese out there keeping a spot open. Be careful around the goose holes.

What's the ice like on the lakes, is there still a good 4+ inches on them besides the geese holes?

I've heard of up to 6" on some lakes already.... Couple lakes I checked were a good 4 or 5" but I didnt venture out too far yet. I'll be punching holes in a few days!

About 5" on St.James right of dike. There are two spots on the lake that the geese are keeping open. Didn't fish so don't have a report there. I will be heading out tommorrow to either kansas or hanska and will report on the ice conditions there.

bassmaster, what is all in kansas for fish? Any walleyes in the lake or mostly just smaller fish?

Lots of northerns, perch, some crappies and smaller walleyes. Had 7 inches out there yesterday and fishing was slow only one northern.

Was out this morning on st. james and had 7 inches there too.
