Body structure is wrong to be a cougar. Looking at the dsitance from the shoulder to the ear, the neck almost seems too long to be a dog. I'm not 100% certain, but I would guess a deer.

I just can't see a deer in that picture. I agree that it doesn't look like a cougar, but I think a larger Sheperd/Lab cross or something would fit the picture. Just a guess.

I say Bear too. The date stamp makes the neck area appear to be skinny, but I think it's all neck behind that date stamp.

What do you have for bait in front of that camera? This could narrow it down. Most likely corn or a salt lick?

I vote bear because a bear will eat anything. A dog could care two scats about corn or a salt lick

gotta disagree with you there my old dog use to eat more corn the dog food, when we were unloading grain trucks anything that was laying around she would eat that stuff up. Plus lots of dog food are made from corn.

I know dogs eat corn, but what I'm trying to say is they most likely wouldn't venture off to eat a pile of corn. I think they'd find a garbage first.

So Brett came into rut out east, made a mock scrape and soiled his hocks and hoped for the best. Really a tough photo to figure out, how far from homes is the camera, north of HWY 10 or south etc. need more details, hopefully you get another shot of it.
