Thinking about heading up next weekend. Did OK the last weekend. just wondering if the bite has improved at all in the river or outside the gaps.

This fall is looking to be the worst ever in my memory if things don't change soon! Hopefully this coldsnap will bring a major push of bigger fish in. This past wednesday I did okay in the river up near the airport, nothing big and not alot of fish, but some nice ones to 24-25 inches. Called it off early today as the weather was miserable, a very cold 9yr old in the boat, and the fishing was not much better.
Seems like one day it's decent and the next it was poor. This coldsnap should be good for the up and coming weekend though.
fiskyknut

Fished by the bridge in Baudette and by the
airport on Saturday because of the wind on
the lake. It wasnt good. Got some small Pike, two small Walleyes and a big perch.
Sunday was 30 and snowing but the wind was
from the SW so we fished the lake from 8 am
till 10:30 and had 9 keepers. It was pretty
miserable but the fish are still there. It
would be nice if some bigger fish would move
in.
I hope Fisky is right and the cold weather
gets things going

------------------
Curt Quesnell
NorthCountry Outdoors Radio

This weekend was hot for muskie with the water temps down finally to about 47. Caught 9 on Saturday including a double header with a 52 inch monster with a 25 inch girth on one rod and a 42 incher on the other. It was utter mayhem fighting both these fish to the boat, with the 52 incher jumping clear in the air and both putting up an awesome battle. Doesn't get any better than that! Sunday was a little slower with 6 muskies, plus we caught a bonus Lake Trout which hit a 10 inch Jake. Must have been hungry to take on a bait that size! Numerous pike were caught as well.

Fished by the airport and bridge Sat. and Sun. Sunday was pretty good, lots of action, but real lite bites.

Hey Mepps#5,
Which boat were you? We must have been
side by side on Saturday because of the
few boats that were there at the bridge
or the airport. There were 3 people in
my black Lund with the dual console
Mercury motor and Yamaha kicker.
------------------
Curt Quesnell
NorthCountry Outdoors Radio

I was in the Brown and Cream Smokercraft with 35 Johnson. We left about an hour before dark and fished the bridge.

I fished this evening on a flat towards wheeler's point and it was very slow. Two of us caught about 5 with one keeper which went back and an 8# jack. Hope it picks up quick as the rut is coming and I will be also moving to Bemidji soon.

Fished this past Wed/thurs. the river is very slow for this time of year. Worked out of the gap to 24' and we limited out in a couple of hours. Lots of little ones about 1 keeper for every 6-10 little ones. All the fish I cleaned were males. Not one female in the bunch.
