Early Jan trip

Recommended Posts

A group of guy are plannin up heading up the first week of jan. Wanting some info on areas to fish..

I have been up there a handful of times out of Adrians and pine island (excellent fishing).. This year we will be bringing up permanants to stayover in..I know typically LOW is a day bite but any insight on areas where there is a decent chance of a somewhat night bite. Pike? Walleyes? Perch?? - the basin vs. the reefs? Were not afraid to move around..and not set on going to just the south end either..

Thanks

Typically there is no real hot spot to speak of for any night action on LOW, however some have decent luck with some rattle reel set-ups in the perm over the night time hours. Might find yourself into some burbout action and occasionally some decent eye's cruising around but as a rule the night bite just doesn't produce like the day time hours will. Early Jan. depending on how and when the freeze up occurs is normally going to get you somewhere out in the main basin however the reefs can start producing around that time as well. Lot's of variables will dictate how and where you'll be able to go so best advice is to just stay tuned and everyone will keep ya posted on the latest reports.
