Shiancoe TD catch was good

Oh well. Just kind of frustrating whats happening with this league. eek

Doesn't seem like any of the officials are on the same page? No consistency whatsoever.

Vikings coach Brad Childress was incensed over the officiating in his team's 28-24 loss to the Green Bay Packers, and he likely didn't feel much better after talking to the NFL's vice president of officiating on Monday.

Childress said Carl Johnson, the league's director of officials, admitted that referee Scott Green should not have overturned a touchdown catch by Visanthe Shiancoe in the second quarter after Green Bay challenged the ruling.

Childress said he also was told a touchdown catch by Packers tight end Andrew Quarless in the second quarter would have been overturned had the Vikings challenged it.

Childress, who blasted the officiating in a postgame radio interview with KFAN, clearly still was frustrated by it during his Monday news conference.

"I called [league officials] very early this morning and they said they were disappointed that the call was reversed," Childress said.

Shiancoe made a diving 17-yard catch in the end zone. Part of the ball touched the ground, but Shiancoe maintained control and the officials ruled it a touchdown. Green Bay challenged, and the play was reversed.

"It's supposed to be irrefutable evidence," Childress said. "The guy is looking right down on it and says it is a touchdown. You have got to show them something that says it wasn't a touchdown. I saw him control the ball. It's not about forearms. It's not about hands. I was told it was about hands. If he has it in his teeth and it touches the ground and he has it when he comes up, it's a touchdown."

The Vikings had to settle for a field goal, costing them four points -- the margin of victory.

"You never know how the game would have turned out after that," Shiancoe said. "That's four points, and we did lose by four points. But there's nothing I can do about it now. They're human beings, too. Everybody makes mistakes. But sometimes it can be costly."

I cannot believe the NFL admitted to screwing up a couple calls that probably cost the Vikes the game.

I know we have human error but in a reply, that should not happen.

All water under the bridge now.

Chilly should have challenged the GB td.

Chilly should have challenged the GB td.

Exactly, why is he mad? His own fault. Whenever there is a questionable call and that team rushes to get a snap off before the red flag comes out, there is something not right. The Packers knew.

Of course it was a touchdown.

As a MN sportsfan we should come to expect that we get jobbed by the officials every game, have the worst coaches in history, and the players on the bench are always a better solution.

It’s about as sure as death and taxes.

Instead of challenging the call to overturn a TD call that could have changed the end result, he blames Farve.

Now thats a realy smart coach. Why not blame Farve to cover ones short comings as a coach.

Thats our Chilly.

If I am not mistaken that non catch was on first down. What happened on 2nd and 3rd? Why was a offense with 4 first ballot hall of famers unable to get a first down or a touchdown? Why did the KAO have to settle for a field goal?

I agree that should have been a touchdown. Maybe they were trying to make up for the bogus personal foul call against GB on the play just before that.

Or the obvious 1st down Green Bay had on the Jennings catch. Chilly didn't blame Favre for the loss he just pointed out how horribly he played again.Favre is the reason for the loss and where we are at because of his poor play.. Sometimes the truth hurts the feelings of even the biggest of egomaniacs.;)

Go Vikes!

Vikes are going nowhere with Chilly.

We might also have to look at the whole team Pier as none of them are playing up to the level that they did last season. It's not just Farve, it's the whole team.

Chilly can blame who he wants but the buck stops with the coach.

.

I wouldn't go that far. Harvin is having a breakout year, Peterson has been outstanding - and appears to have solved his fumbling issues, Chad Greenway and EJ Henderson are both playing at a very high level, and Winfield has been excellent at his corner. Kluwe is punting well (and yes, that does matter). I'm sure I could think of a few more.

The main issues, to me, are Favre's gawdawful decision making/inaccuracy, and spotty play from the defensive line.

The good news is that both the Bears and Packers are terribly flawed teams as well, so the season is not lost - yet. MN NEEDS a win at New England, and then a few more in a row after that and they're right in the mix.

If they can get to at least .500 when Rice comes back, they will be an absolute nightmare to defend.

We're in no better shape next week if Favre plays with a fractured ankle. I hate to say it, but let the old fart get the rest he needs and put Jackson out there. Better yet, I'd rather see Webb taking snaps against the Pats.

Favre has been playing terrible. He is statistacally one of the worst qb's in football. He is the one losing us games, and needs to be pulled. And yes Childress needs to go also. Worst play calling ive seen in my life.

so according to you it's favre's fault harvin didn't get his foot inbounds in the endzone? and he (harvin) didn't even attempt to, something every reciever does from junior high up. against the dolfins peterson can't get in with first and goal for the winning t.d farves fault?? jared allen is a no show every game favres fault? every loss we have, easily could have been a win this year but they aren't on favre he's the hardest working guy on the field trying to make things happen.

There are a lot of factors but Brett, Chilly and #69 (and his buddies on the D-line) are all correctly identified as part of the problem. Everything went our way last year, nothing is going our way this year. Tthat's just NFL football, no teams are that much better than the others and little things make all the difference...

It was a catch, so the Vikings just kick a field goal to win the game instead of throwing to Harvin. They deserve to be 3-3. As kids say, "Sorry isn't enough."

It’s like Mauer’s double that landed fair twice, but was ruled foul against the Yanks last year. What are they looking at?

I am a huge Vikes fan, and I have been very disappointed in our offensive lines protection of the QB. I don't care how you all feel about Brett's performance, if you think about it, it doesn't matter who the QB is, if he is under that kind of pressure all the time, his stats won't be good.

As far as last week's game,,,,I'm ready to have Childress removed. Why not run a play at the end of the half? and why not throw the red flag on the Packers TD that was incomplete? And when we had 1:02 left in the game, why not go for a first down instead of throwing in the endzone? We all have to remember, it's the coach that calls the play, the QB only executes as well as he can. I am still a Brett fan, and I will always be a Vikes fan. I will NEVER be and NEVER have been, a Brad Childress fan.

Funny how some of you sheep hate Favre when he gets here, when he plays good you guys love him, then when he's not playing well he sucks and is a loser again, LMMFAO.

You ever see how much time he has to make a decision with our pie hole O-Line? He gets like 1 and a half seconds while our opposing QB's get to sit back and read a book then decide to throw the ball. When Favre has time he's one of the best in the league.

Yeah he throws some dumb passes, everyone has known that for 20 years now.

I have been unwavering in my opinion about Favre. I certainly am not a sheep because I usually buck the trend. He was once a great QB no doubt but what the Vikings need to do is think about the future instead of trying to buy their way into the Superbowl by slapping together a bunch of names for a season or two. To be truly great you need a TEAM. There is no I in TEAM. Players like Favre are not Team players. If he were a Team player he would have been at summer camp with the rest of the Team. The Vikings could learn a lot from the Twins about player development and the Team concept.

LOL, ok.

I agree the Vikes need to think about the future, you can blame that one on Chilly by moving up in the 2nd round and taking a projected 5th round QB at best that needed atleast 5 years before he could almost make a throw.

I bet if you ask the players they'll tell you Favre is a great teammate. Favre wasn't at training camp because his ankle still was messed up and he wasn't sure if he was gonna come back or not, same story the last few years. It's not because he's not a good teammate, players wouldn't go out of their way and try to convince him to play if he wasn't.

The Twinkies suck, your not one of them guys that thought they'd actually do something this year were you?

They made the playoffs which is a lot more than the Queens will do. If you believe that carp about the guys flying down there to convince him to play I have some land down in Florida I would like to sell you.

here's what the vikes can learn from the twins: make the playoffs and get embarrased. nothing to learn here, been there done that.

I'd like to pop a red nose on Childress, hand him a green wig, floppy shoes and tell him you can wear this on Sunday as well as on most Sundays since you became head coach. I like how his record improved each year he was here, guess what the talent was doubling each year he was here also. Things are far from settled in the NFC so far, but time is running out on when we must catch fire. He's an average coach at best, not that he's been bad, but not that he's been good. Lots of poor decisions while hiding behind his laminated play sheet thing.

LMMFAO, OK

I guess it was all faked, they really didn't go down there to convince him to play. The players, the coaches, the media, the cameras, the press conferences, all faked.

The Twinkies get into the playoffs every year and get blasted in the first round, thats something to be real proud of!! Get a real owner then we can talk.
