Firewise trespassing?

This weekend I found a Firewise baggy/kit hanging on the back door of my cabin. They provided a fire assessment of my land. Aside from completely failing the assessment, I was a little mad that someone from the state accessed my land without permission.

The DNR website doesn't seem to address the issue of un-requested evaluations. Does anyone know anything more about this program and whether they should be doing this? I agree that it's a nice service but one that I did not request.

I suspect that your local fire department performed this free service for you. I know that my fire department,(Vermilion Lake Vol. Fire Dept.),does this for our coverage area.

Go to DNR site and they describe road clearance and area around homes or cabins. If the area does not meet their standards they will not protect it in the case of a fire. This is due to danger of being trapped in that area. Really is a good thing to look at in forest area.

I understand why people would consider this a good service. I just wanted to know who authorized it.

I know the local fire dept comes to inspect by commercial building every year. Maybe the same setup?

Ours was done by Lake Vermilion Fire Brigade.
