Scattered rain and ducks is forecast

Recommended Posts

Mixed with the random raindrops of past couple of mornings I have seen a random duck or two or three. Saw one large bunch of mallards, several small bunches of divers and a couple clumps of large sized divers. Some geese have been passing through up high on the nice nights. I have heard a few volleys of shotgun blasts early and that might mean somebody is getting a bit of shooting.

But I just watch now days and wonder what I'm going to do with 500+ non-tox shotgun shells. Heck, I can't even melt them down to make fishing sinkers or wheel weights. Drat.....I'm always ahead of or just behind the curve.

LOL...yah, I guess I'm going to have to have one helluva sale around here one of these days. Prolly take some guns up to Sheels this week and sell them. It's just easier than wasting time and money on ad's in papers and weeklys that never generate a single response. Or it's from some lardnecked bonehead who wants to buy it for peanuts.

My huntin' days are gone but by Gad I've had shooting like most of the guys in these Forums would not believe. No regrets, but I DO miss it.

There's been some ducks fallen with those raindrops too. Today they were late but it was frantic after 8-830 for an hour. Then steady till filed out.

Saturday the were moving at first light

Ufatz-Cant help but wonder why you have hung up hunting? You sound like you still have all the tools and desire? I would volunteer to help Gissert rid you of that unwanted ammo....

Old and beat up. Steel knees. My pal Arthur Itis all over. I DO have a pile of Bismuth, Hevi-Shot etc. in 12 and 20 but haven't figured out a simple way to sell it. Gotta go to one buyer 'cause I ain't sittin in the parkin' lot at Fleet Farm selling it ten shells at a time. LOL. I'm thinking $1.25 a round but you gotta buy it all.

Still mulling it over. These decisions are harder to make than you think but there simply IS no place to hunt and there are NO ducks when you get there and I can't do the stagger through the swamp in the dark any more.

But I'm not crying. I've had duck hunting in AK and northern Alberta that most guys wouldn't believe and the same for birds and critters of all sorts.

I agree, ducks aren't what they used to be in the area, but can still be found. I haven't hunted an opener for a few years myself..I promised my 5 year old we would go next year though..My father went South this year before deer season for the first time..He seems to be in the "hang it up" mode as well..pretty disappointing..I may be interested in paddling an old steel kneed bitter guy around a little for a few of his inspired stories too..lol..shoot me an email [email protected]

I have seen a lot of ducks this year. I have to say it is the most ducks i've seen over the last maybe 6-10 years. I have had about 10 large flocks come through my decoys already (20+ birds in a flock). I also noticed last Saturday there were way too many Megansers in the area.

Ducks are safe from me and fly on with my fond blessings. I still have one 6.5 but it's going up for sale. Most other stuff gone.

Good luck with our billed buddies.
