Handguns for deer

USE 44 mag open site with rem 180grain softpoints I like lighter bullets for this gun because you get little flatter trajectory and the balistics are better further out. Also use 50 cal S.W with scope with Winchester 400grain platinums they had the best balistic for what I found available.

Ruger Vaquero single action .44 mag. revolver using 240gr. hollow point. This pistol is not designed for a scope so it's open sights for me. I impose a personal limit of about 30 yards and so far I haven't been given the opportunity to use it....yet. I'd like to take a deer with it some day.

Glock 20 -- 10 mm.

Still waiting for the chance to take a deer with it ...

Shot at one doe a couple of times but I was a little nervous and would have missed an elephant ... winkfrown

I have taken deer and bear with a Freedom Arms 454 casull, great gun. My step brother hunts with a .45 colt but has not had a shot yet.

I use a .480 ruger with 325 grain barnes expanders with open sights.

I've got a buddie who has a .480, wow those babies have some power.

Bear Lots of power the .500 hadn't come out yet or I would have bought that instead, got it for in grizzly country but still fun to shoot deer with. First thing I ever shot with it was a raccoon fun but messy.

I used a 7mm08 Thompson Center single shot. It had one of those Halogen Scopes on its. I shot a Doe and an 8 point buck. Both only at about 15 yards. I don't like the Halogen scope that was on it because you can only dim it down so low, and in early morning or late nights its really hard to see your target with that thing glowing in your face. The gun was really fun to use though. Very Accurate. Only had it sighted in to 50 yards but seen people using them out west at 200 yards on TV shows.

My bow hunting buddy would like to use his handgun for deer but tends to get his deer during bow season. I helped him sight in his pistol this fall.

It is a massive single shot, with a LOOOOOONG barrel and shoots the 308 Winchester rifle cartrige. Kicks like a mule. Sorry, but I did not bother to note the model.

I only shot a couple times and told him, good luck.

He got it for bear but has not been lucky enough to get a permit yet.

Seems when the black bear shows up on the trail cam, we do not have deer for a week.

I use a .357mag 6.5" Tracker. Shooting Hornaday Lever evolution rounds. Not scoped in the pictures, but is has a 1x reddot on it now. 35 yard personal range limit.

Its like bowhunting with a gun.

sorry it took me so long to get back to you -- But I LOVE the 10 mm Glock. Great gun smooth firing, big bullet and big magazine.

The only drawback is the WEIGHT -- but it is what it is.

Odd caliber so most "small" stores up north don't carry the ammo. If you plan ahead you are fine.
