Kabetogama/Ash River Fishing Report October 19, 2010

Looks like a great weekend coming up and hopefully fall fishing conditions will prevail.

This time of year we should look for schools of walleye, off shoreline structures on reefs in or around 35’ deep.

Jig and minnow is the fall presentation of choice, or jigging Rapalas and Heddon Sonars. They can be used with or without minnows or minnow needs.

Pike will be looking for baitfish opportunities, sunny days on windblown shorelines, overcast cooler days deeper water.

Sauger and perch will usually be found in slightly deeper water than walleyes.

Sorry I don’t have much info for last week. I was out of commission and not many anglers reporting in.

Grouse hunting on the other hand is getting better by the week. Cooler temperatures less foliage and an improvement in bird count helps.

In closing, these nice weekends for bird hunting and fishing will soon be coming to an end, so come out and enjoy.

Phil & Ellen Hart
