Big remote control monster truck

My son asked for a "big remote control monster truck" for his b-day. Anyone have any suggestions for what brand I should be looking at? Also, what type of remote would be best for a six year old boy?

I would google a place like Tower Hobbies and see what they have. You can get gas or electric and there is a pretty big range in prices. I used to fly radio control airplanes and got everything from them. At least with a truck ya don't have to worry much about sticking one in the ground.

For a 6 year old I would just go to Radio Shack or any R/C hobby store and just get one of the basic models they sell. I'm sure you don't want to spend big $$$ until he gets used to controlling it anyways. Let him beat the heck out of it until he's ready for the big boys...if he's still interested.

My oldest is 13 and he has had remote controls since he was 2-3. I would say go cheap to mid priced $50-100 All the stores have them they are big and cool looking. They will not be the fasted but they will provide hours of entertainment. You want to see if he gets into it enought to spend the big money. You will want to make sure he learns how to take care of it cleaning it etc.

Last x-mas I bought my son a $300 electric car which does 30+mph. It's cool because if he want's to invest in it he can buy new parts to get it above 50+mph. Unfortunatly he hardly ever uses it. I guess his little brother will get a nice hand me down!
