Northlong Lake- Merrifield Access Project

Anybody have any reports for the access that the DNR is working on? Is it about done yet? What are the odds they will open back up soon?

I drove by yesterday and I looks like they have a lot of work to do yet. the upper parking lot was shaped and some curb and gutter poured. The lower area looked pretty tore up yet.

I tried to launch there this past weekend. Access is still closed and I can't recall exactly what the sign said, but I believe it will be closed through November.

So we had to drive clear around to the 371 launch. We slammed the fish...too bad they were all rock bass with one small walleye mixed in.

How's the 371 access? Can a guy get in there with a tyee on a bunk trailer?

I would think so. We launched a Lund Explorer on a regular roller-type trailer without any problems. It's fairly deep right at the access, but it gets real shallow about 30 feet from shore. Probably only a 1.5 feet or so.

We had to wait at the access for a guy with a huge boat and he didn't have any problems either.

That'll be much easier than driving across the lake to Merrifield!
