My Brother and a couple of buddies from <BR>South Dakota came up. My brother has fished<BR>LOW before, it was the first time for the <BR>others.<P>Went to the same spot I have been fishing <BR>since mid Sept and had the same result. Lots<BR>of fish, lots of nice eaters. We used 4 scoops of Shiner Minnows by 2:30 and put on<BR>some Power Bait and Berkley Gulp to finish<BR>the limits and quit by 3pm. Biggest fish <BR>was 17 1/2 inches and we had only a couple<BR>fish over 15 inches.<P>We didnt keep Saugers under 13 inches or <BR>Walleyes under 14. Saturday night we had <BR>a big fish fry and refilled the limits Sunday<BR>morning by 10:30 using 3 scoops of minnows <BR>in 2 1/2 hours.<P>Windy on Saturday and seasicknes struck the<BR>2 LOW newcomers, Dramamine Sunday and less<BR>wind fixed things.<P>A true fish count was 104 Walleyes and Saugers for the 2 days with countless bites<BR>and misses,<P>Not big fish but lots of them and they are<BR>nice and fat and scrappy.<P>I have said this many times, it is some of <BR>the easiest fishing of the year. 20 to 24<BR>feet deep in front of either the Morris Point Gap or Lighthouse Gap, anchor and jig<BR>with a shiner minnow. Those new Multi-colored Jigs seem to work best. We used<BR>quarter and 3/8th ounce jigs and thumped <BR>them on the bottom and held them still six<BR>inches off the bottom and didnt have long<BR>to wait for bite.<P>If it ever cools off, the bigger fish will<BR>move in. Nothing wrong with the eatin quality<BR>on these boys.<P>Lots of people out fishing which is good to<BR>see.<P>Come on up and fish Lake of the Woods in the<BR>fall. Its great!!!!!<P>------------------<BR>Curt Quesnell<BR>NorthCountry Outdoors Radio

We had a great 4 days of fishing up at the angle. Good to hear things are consistant down south. We had a mixture of species, but almost all walleye and crappie. Many perfect eaters to be had. We were jig and minnow in 28'. <P>------------------<BR>Hemlock<BR>"Throw'm back"

When the wind goes to the northwest and<BR>picks up to 15 or better it does get rolling<BR>into the gaps.<P>Out on the lake on Saturday the waves were<BR>nearing 4 footers but they were more rollers<BR>than breakers. Once the anchor is set you<BR>just turn your back to the wind and fish.<P>If it would cool off the actual gaps and<BR>4 mile bay and the last stretch of river<BR>will heat up fishing wise.<P>Good luck to all<BR><P>------------------<BR>Curt Quesnell<BR>NorthCountry Outdoors Radio

Hemlock- <BR>I was up in Miles and did well on crappies this past weekend. Can I be so bold and ask where some of the crappie areas are in the angle? Just looking for some new scenery. I did try up in tug channel next to schoolhouse point but nothing biting.

We also fished the 16th-18th. Spent time in the lighthhouse gap, four mile, and the river. Best luck was about 10 miles up river. Caught most of our bigger fish up river. In all we had a 25,23,several 21 and many eaters plus a 50 inch sturgeon. Great trip and the weather was fine (especially saturday) . Thanks for all the help with the advice prior to the trip. What a great first trip on LOW in the fall. Hope to make it back again this fall.<BR>

Was up over the weekend, mostly bowhunting but I did manage to get out in the boat Sat. morning. It was rockin out there so we didn't feel like messin with the lake. We probably should have cause the gap, 4 mile, and the river to the landing were very cold. I saw 2 fish caught and one was in my boat. Wish it wasn't so windy on Sat. Oh well, that's fishin.

Yes the lake is on fire and the big muskies are on also the prowl. With the water temps finally dropping below 50, the bigger fish are coming in. Last weekends muskie tally was a 55, 53, 49.5, 2 - 48's, 47, 45 and a 43, countless pike up to 42 inches as well.

Daryl, glad to hear you did OK in Miles. We were very close to scooting over there. We got as far as Firebag Island and decided to venture back to the west to catch a night bite at another place that produced the day before. Crappies were decent in various places. They were all mixed in with the walleyes(five feet off bottom). We were just fishing points all weekend around 24-28' of water. We were all around Falcon Island. Tug channel was slower. <P>------------------<BR>Hemlock<BR>"Throw'm back"

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now.  Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more!   Anyway, do you like fishing?  Trolling's kind of fun!  🤭

Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN.  Should be easy now. Have fun.    Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
