Predictions for "The Series" at The Cell

Windy City Walleye Hunter

If we can get through August with the lead, I think we will be in good shape to win the division. After this month, we have just Texas to deal with, and the rest of our series should be easy. During this time, the Sox have a rather harder schedule in the stretch.

I think their silence speaks volumes. This site was mighty quiet the first two months of the season and I expect it to get quiet again as my Sox power down the last leg of the season with 16 of 22 games being played at home! Of course, if any of those Twinky mouths had any testicular verasitude they would attempt to answer my questions and admit they were wrong! But then I guess there are quite a few geldings up in the land of 10,000 lakes!

What were you saying???

Yeah,

maybe a sox win will give windy the testicular fortitude and bring him out of his embarassed retirement again and maybe not blush

It's been tough on him since his bears debacle last year and then his beloved sox go an tease him with a mid-season surge feasting on bottom dweller NL teams. laugh

Windy...I do appreciate you...you make it fun, that's for sure smile

This is about the time windy starts talking about other Chicago sports.

Maybe he'll be spot on about Cutler again... Lol!

I am just sitting here and wondering what the heck that ol' 2005 World Series Ring did for the WSox and their fans last night.....Windy?

White Sox cheerleader Windy, insisted before the game the Twins don't have a mental edge over his beloved pale hose, but they're on some impressive runs against the Sox: 20-6 overall.

That had to be the toughest loss ever for Windy with his idol Jim Thome sticking the dagger in the heart of Sox fans!.....all 27 of them!

Just wait, the Twins will lose one of the three games and when that happens he will jump all over the thread.

no, he'll start talking about drinking out of the stanley cup or looking at the prehistoric lombardi trophy

The beautiful thing for me and Windy about the Stanley Cup is that it's midway between the Cubs and WSox....for another 9 mos. or so.

I miss Windy too. But the only way to get Windy involved is for his teams to be winning. He can't deal with it when his teams are losing. Which is most of the time.

laugh At least the Sox gave him a tiny window so he could finally participate.

This isn't even any fun without Windy, frown but I say we take 2 of 3 and you can stick the fork in.

I agree with the fork in it, but I say we sweep them, then we can just use a big fork!

I find the irony in all of this is how everyone, particularly Ozzie, was so happy to see the end of "Dome field advantage". Target Field has been a far greater advantage for the Twins than the Dome ever was.

1 of 3 and will still be enough.

That's what I'm thinking or actually hoping for is one out of 3. We are due for a bit of a slump and the Sox will be fired up as all wounded animals are. I wouldn't be totally shocked if they swept us with as ice as our bats have been.

Can't believe how well Crain pitched last night. Strikes out Konerko and Manny with bases loaded. I thought he had Rios too on a pitch that was a strike with some previous batters.

Who's had a better 180 this year, Young or Crain?

Great, great performance by Crain - an exclamation point on his remarkable turnaround this year.

On the other side of the coin is Matt Guerrier. He just can't get anyone out in the second half, and Gardenhire needs to shut him down for a week or more to rest his arm and try to glue his confidence back together.

Guerrier's numbers since July 1:

July: ERA of 8.00, K/BB ratio of .5 (that's two walks for every strikeout)

August: ERA of 5.27, K/BB ratio of .75

September: ERA of 3.00, K/BB ratio of 1.00, WHIP of 2.33 (that's more than two baserunners allowed per inning pitched - gawdAWFUL!)

The only reason Guerrier's numbers aren't even worse is that Crain has pitched him out of jams on a few occasions.

With 12 relief pitchers or whatever MN is carrying now, there is absolutely no reason for Guerrier to pitch in an important situation until he gets right. There's too much at stake, and he hasn't been able to get the job done for 10 weeks now.

On the plus side, it was nice to see Span sting the ball every time up, Young break the ice with a big HR, and Kubel and Hardy come up with clutch hits.

It was also really nice to watch Chicago kick the ball around in the field grin
