Hi Curt, I live in Warroad and my brother is coming up to visit me this weekend and of course, wants to go fishing.Since I just moved here about 6 months ago, I still don't have a real good handle on LOW yet. Any input you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Where to go, techniques, etc. Should I be able to listen to your broadcasts here in Warroad? If so, what are the call letters for your station? Hope to meet you someday. May the next fish you catch be HUGE! (If you would rather not post an answer, my E-mail is:[email protected])<P>------------------<BR>DIRTBALL2

Hi Kieth,<P>99.3 fm or 1460 am. It'll be scratchy but<BR>you should get it in your car. HOWEVER the<BR>fishing shows summer season is over and we<BR>will return the Monday after Thanksgiving <BR>with the Ice season of NorthCountry Outdoors<BR>Radio.<P>September is a strange month for fishing.<BR>It is an "inbetween" time for the fish. They<BR>are not in the summer places and they are not<BR>yet in the fall pattern, or they are in both<BR>a little.<P>I know(from what I have heard) there is some<BR>kind of Shiner run on the Rainy River side<BR>of the lake. When that happens you want to<BR>fish off of Pine Island and in the Morris<BR>Point Gap or the Lighthouse gap. Not to <BR>worry if you are not familiar with this<BR>area it is real easy fishing.<P>Use the public access at Wheelers Point and<BR>head for the lake. Once you get out past<BR>Pine Island head straight out (or veer a <BR>little to your left). Watch your electronics<BR>for the clouds of baitfish, once you find<BR>and area with lots of minnows anchor up and<BR>verticle jig with a shiner or a chub.<P>Very slow presentation, lift the jig a few<BR>inches off the bottom and hold it there still<BR>for a while, then repeat. If you dont catch<BR>anything in a half hour pull the anchor and<BR>look deeper. You will fish from 15 to 30<BR>feet deep water.<P>You should stay busy as you should "windmill"<BR>smaller fish (treat the little guys with care). You will also catch some Pike, Sturgeon, Perch and Pout in the bargain along<BR>with maybe a big eye.<P>This is near foolproof in Oct and Nov. Mid<BR>Sept is early but fishing has been fair for<BR>those using this presentation. Dont use<BR>Crawlers, dont use Leeches...Jig and a Minnow.<P>I will be doing this very thing in this<BR>very place on Saturday. Dont worry, this<BR>is now secret and I dont worry much about<BR>crowds, the fish are plentyful and most <BR>fishers have the boat in the shed already.<P>Good Luck<BR><P>------------------<BR>Curt Quesnell<BR>NorthCountry Outdoors Radio

There’s critters out and about.  Get yourself some cellular trail cams and you’ll see.

It wouldn't be the first time I've heard the USS Skunked Again breaking ice! I left this morning, the rain really did a number to the ice. I'll bet the Partridge River will be open by the weekend.

My yard is pretty open, but narrow. I think I'll be fine with reception in the areas I'm thinking. I try to keep the hill somewhat natural, but my wife wants to see the lake better. The video's I've watched, they have topped the trees and mounted the dish. I would this the swaying would affect the signal. Does Starlink help you with using WiFi for calling? My T-Mobile service sux at the cabin. Did you bury your cable?

I'm on the wide part of the channel going in to Black Bay. We won't see Paul B. For years.

Welcome back. Wow it's been since 2018 it looks like. Did you ever "I'm tightening up my footprint and want to build on my Bozeman lot on the Gallatin"?  😏

You're probably right. This isn't official since I've already lost, but I'll make my supplemental guess for May 6th since it's still open. 😄   As long as I can snake my way along the shore and/or plow through some dark ice on the 8th, I'll be happy. I love aluminum boats!

For all of my "problems" with getting a clear signal it's worth it. I can spend more time at the lake because I can work during the day and play or get things done at night. Toss in that I can record and watch a football/hockey/basketball game when I'm done at the end of the day....priceless.   Like your place, our property is more natural and I was worried about having to cut down a bunch of trees. I like that people have to get up close to see our place from the lake through the trees. Luckily I didn't have to do much to get enough a signal that works for me. If I needed to be on video calls, I probably would run the dish down to the shore to get a better view of the sky.   BTW - the main problem with mounting the dish on a tree is that the tree still has a canopy that will block the signal. The best option would be to top a tree and then mount it on the clear-cut top.
