Fiskyknut: Is this the one that Kevin runs out of Wigwom????...Kaz

Posted

Kaz, That be the one I put dates up for thinking that's the one bojangles was refering to. Kevin O. moved it back this year to the second weekend vs. the first weekend which it had been years prior. The MTT championship is up here again this year also and I believe that one is September 18 and 19.
You gonna give it a whirl this year Kaz?
Fisky

What's the entry fee this year?

Posted

Ripper, It went up a mere 5 beans this year and is now 330.00 per team. Way fun and well run tourney, Kevin and crew do a great job. Fishing is usually great at that timeframe and I'm glad it got moved back a weekend. Hopefully the weather will be nice to us too!
You gonna do it this year Ripper?
Fisky

I am undecided at this point. Is it a six fish limit and are the boundaries limited to 4 mile bay and the river? How many over 19.5 can you keep?

Fisky: No, I just go for the socializing.. I enjoy fishing, but not in competition. If your there, drive by, I'm across the street from the Taxidermy....Kaz

Guys,
Isn't culling illegal in MN? The last I heard in MN stringer sorting was unlawful. Correct me if I'm wrong, does the MNDNR make exceptions for well run tourneys? Don't mean to sound like a wisea$$, just want some clarification.
thanks,
toddb

fisky thanks for the info. im calling the
wigwam friday to get entered.always wanted to fish it but never had the time.

Boundaries are US waters from Birchdale rapids, downstream onto the lake over to the Morris gap, and 3 miles out onto lake from the green cans, {I think 3 miles, this gets decided at rules meeting}. 6 fish per team per day, 15 inch minimum, with 2 over 19.5 allowed per team each day. Last year culling was allowed.
Fisky

Todd
Culling is legal in Minnesota.
They dont bend the rules for tournament
fishing(And they shouldnt).
I am gonna try the Wigwam Tourney this fall.
I wasnt aware of the date change.
I am fishing right there anyway watching
the competition might as well shake the money
tree and enter.
------------------
Curt Quesnell
NorthCountry Outdoors Radio

Curt,
I was looking at the WI/MN border regs. where I got my info on the culling. After further review I see that you are correct. I am working in Red Wing and was fishing Pepin last week, where no culling was necessary as fishing is nowhere near as hot as the big pond. Thanks for setting me straight.
later,
toddb

LipRipper-You need to fish the Northstar this year. I'm fishing it with Sgt. T-Gaard from G.F. We could go and break down water together possibly. Give me a call or E-mail me. Coming home this weekend for a wedding. Got 11 smallies (2 were my biggest ever) 3 snakes and 1 24"walleye last time I was home. Gonna hit it Sat. before the wedding and Sun morning. Should be in town by 11am.on Sat. Let me know if you wanna go try it. Later KJK

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now. Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight. Not sure where they went. Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did. But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far. Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens. It's just a waiting game now. Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well: https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/ Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast. Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more! Anyway, do you like fishing? Trolling's kind of fun! 🤭
    • leech~~
Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭 Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN. Should be easy now. Have fun. Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
