My suggestion for a resort to stay at is Angle Inn Lodge, the people are super and so is everything else that comes with the package, it is a american plan so you don't have to drag all your food up there, and about the fishing don't worry, they will take care of you, search the web for angle in logde for their site

George,
My recommendation would be to fish the Ontario side right now. You might be able to pick off a on the points, like Soldier's or Butterfield Point, but the points off Falcon are smoking right now. Crappies are going great as well.
Frank Walsh

Thanks for the replys. We are staying at youngs bay resort. Easy access to the lake. Would love to get into some fall crappie fishing as well as walleyes. Where and how far are "Soilders,Butterfield, and Falcon" points from the angle. Will we need to worry about low water conditions to get there. If in Canada, what are the limits on Crappies. Thanks again!!

George
Saw by your profile you are from PR. I'm just down the road in FF. Another coincidence, we'll be staying at the Angle Outpost the same time your at Youngs.
Did you figure out where Soldiers and Butterfield points are? I'm not sure. A friend just got back a few days ago and they did real well on the Canadian side but nothing on the Mn side.

Island Guy
Small world. No I didn't find out where those 2 places are. I did see where Falcon island is and by the sounds of it the fishing has been real good there lately. I also had heard that the Mn side has not been very good. The owners of Youngs Bay Resort have relatives there this week and hopefully they will have updated info on where the fishing will be good. I think that we will pretty much end up in Canada if we want some good fishing. That will be a first. Not sure where and how to get to places will need to check maps when we get to the resort. I;ll keep you posted if I hear anything.Have you been there before? Also if you don't mind where were your buddies at?
Looks like it could be wet there then. Oh well we really need the rain. Thanks again

My friends that just got back fished the water between Falcon and Windfall islands. They also fished the massacre island area.
I have fished the angle many times but never needed to go to Canada as we always had good luck on the Mn side.
If you hear anything else, drop a line.

The only other thing that I know now is that the owner at Youngs Bay thought that we would have to go to four blocks or little oak for fish. Wouldn't be bad if we don't have a hard north wind. I plan on contacting the resort this week for further updates. We will be in a gray lund tyee. If you see us stop by and we can swap stories.

Mid Sept.Oak Island,
Saw your posts and just wanted to say hi and that I will also be fishing up there the weekend of the 12th. I've gotton similar reports as you have. I did also hear that the Garden Island area can be good this time of year. I'll be staying on Oak Island (Sportsmans) and will be in a black Crestliner, dual consloe, with a 115 merc. Maybe I'll see you up there.
Moose

Ya, 120.00 sux. I have Access Broadband, they just raised their rate from 50.00 to 75.00. I'm lucky to get 3 to 5 mbts up or down, sometimes I'll get better. In fairness to them, they have been great trying to respond to my needs, but just can't improve my service. They said that they doubt I'll ever be able to stream a Wild game. I just purchased a new streaming box and it buffers none stop. With the new streaming box and the referral discount, I'll be able to cancel Sling, so, I'll save about 10.00 on my monthly bill. That's what I told my wife 😀 it's true...

That's a better price than when I bought a few years ago. I pulled the giant box across the ice on an old Radio Flyer sled late winter. Good luck. You'll enjoy Starlink, except for paying the bill. Mine was originally $100/mo, then $110/mo, then they said I was in a low usage area so they dropped my bill to $90/mo for the last two years. I just got a letter a month or so ago saying that we are now in a "high usage" area so they raised it to $120/mo.

I did the app thing. The best place is the middle of my yard and that's not going to happen. I have a tripod stand and a "J" type stand. I've also looked at trimming some trees for a better view of the sky. Once I get it, I'll have to try different areas. Maybe I'll have to hire a guy to climb my tree and install it- I've seen YouTube videos on that. Middle of my roof looks to be somewhat clear, but I don't like to put holes in the shingles. Plus, it's a 12/12 pitch and I don't have Velcro shoes. If anyone is looking to buy Starlink, it's on sale till 4/30 at $159.00. If you do buy it, I can give to a referral code and we'll both get a free month.

With the current conditions and weather forecast I would still stick to Sunday, May 4th. I almost guarantee Vermilion will be ice-free by the opener on May 10th. Very likely someone on the list will have the correct date.

Black Bay began opening yesterday afternoon. I could see ice moving around in the middle.

I've got it too. It works great if you can get a clear view of the sky, works decent if there are blockages. I had to take down two trees and still have branches that reach out and interrupt. Some people have their dish mounted on shore which probably helps a lot. You can download the Starlink app and then walk around your property. It will assess any spot to see if you'll get enough coverage.

I've seen them at the Cub in Minnetonka and just a few weeks ago, the Cub in Chanhassen. The little smelt, smaller than sardines.
