Just checking to see if there is a good muskie population and size in Fox Lake. Do they see a lot of pressure? Is there a bait shop in town that we could call to ask about the action?

well there is not alot of presure on the lake like the iowa lake's area. i fish fox every weekend for those girls and i am lucky to see 3 other musky fisherman. i have got alot of follows and some nice top water explosions in the last week. but this year i have not been able to boat one yet. i have seen fish in there over 46" last fall during rough fish netting and a great abundance of 40+ fish. trying to find them tho is hard on days with the sun out.

Thanks M_M!

Can you tell me, is it a deep lake with a lot of structure, or is it a bunch of cabbage and weeds. We mostly fish the Alexandria area. I am looking at fishing something a little closer. This lake would only be a 2 hour drive rather than 3. I might try it Saturday afternoon.

Sounds to me like buck doesn't want anyone invading his spot. J/K.. I e-mailed the DNR asking if there were any lakes in SW MN and if they had any intentions of stocking any in the future and here is what I got back:

"Fox Lake, near Sherburne in Martin County, is the only lake in SW MN stocked with muskies, and likely will remain so. Criteria for stocking muskies in MN are quite restrictive, and expansions of the muskie program in Minnesota are very unlikely in the foreseeable future. Fox Lake has had muskies stocked since 1999, and the largest ones are now over 40" in length."

Personally I am going to need a little more pursuasion to get me to drive over there, when I know the Alexandria area produces nice fish.....

I'm from Iowa great lakes area and fish West and Spirit all the time for muskies. I am coming to Fox lake tomorrow (7/17/04) and was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas about the lake itself: deep water? shallow water? definite weed edge? I just need to know what kind of lake it is (what kind of structures are there?). I appreciate any information I can get.

Hey minnesota_muskyfisherman, since you grew up around Fox Lake, would you know anyone selling a lot onthe lake? It looks like a great spot to show the kids some fishing action. Appreciate your help!
