Just wondering if anyone could recommend a campground on Cedar Lake. We will be coming up the weekend of the 16th of July. What would be the best baits to bring and what to try for? Is this mainly a panfish lake or does it have any "toothy critters" in it to speak of? I am maily trying to keep the other couple that we are bringing up with us happy and busy with biting fish. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I reccomend Lemieux resort(northeast side of lake next to public access)Its always a busy place. There is great bass, pike, walleye fishing if the bite is on.Have not been out yet this year. You can get alot of current info at Fairbault bait shop or Nagels bait. They are accross the street from each other on the west edge of town by the cannon river dam.Get off I35 at hwy 60,go east a block or so to 1st light, turn left(north)follow street about a block to the dam and at the stop sign the bait shops are dead ahead. They will be happy to point you in the right direction to cedar lake also. The bar at resort will be another good place for info.I always do well on east side of lake south of resort in the shallows for bass and back side of islands for everything else if they are biting. The walleyes are in there but seem to elude me regularily.good luck!!

Thanks rgoi812 for the info. I saw that area on the map and Lemieux Campground came up. It is nice to have someone point you in the right direction. If you see a 17 1/2 Blue and White Crestliner give me a shout. Is there any panfish in that lake and what would be good tackle to bring. Thanks again for the information.

There is alot of crappies and sunnies and if I remember they were not to bad sized,I used 1/8oz white jigs tipped with minnows and plain hooks under slip bobbers after marking them. The best spots for me was in between the islands or near them around the spawn. The boat traffic will tell you whats going on somewhat as if the bite is good there usually is several of them concentrated between the islands in the deeper water.I prefer to hunt the blue gills in shallow water and do alright if they cooperate.Crawlers work for me under slip bobbers or jigs.Lately the glass shad rapps have been good trolled slow and weighted down a little, suprise every time with crappies, sunnies, and walleyes hitting the green ones I have used.Check out the MN DNR Lakefinder website for info or any lakemap site so you get the scoop on depths and structure possibilities to save a little time getting to know the lake.Spinner baits and crawlers on slip bobbers have produced bass and bluegills for me on the west bay along the weeds and lillies when the boat traffic gets intense on the main lake.Much more peacefull back there sometimes.Good Luck!!

Thanks for all of the information it gives us somewhere to start. Tried getting a campsite at Lemieux- Booked Full! Thanks again for the campsite info. The lake sounds like it has some potential. I will try some live bait and trolling tactics. The panfish better beware my wife is a pro with her ultra-lite set up. Thanks again and if you have any more info please send it. Thanks in advance!!
