I have been doing some fishing on the cannon river in the morristown area for catfish and I sometimes catch one mixed in with the many carp and sheepheads, but I only get one. are there any spots that I could catch a few more, and what baits work well, any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!

you will not catch big numbers of cats out of the cannon river near morristown. i grew up fishing that river and it dose have some nice cats in it. but not big numbers. if you want to catch numbers of cats i suggest the MN river near mankato.

I would suggest using creek chubs or chicken livers. I also like to cut suckers in half and use them as cut bait. As for spots I am not familiar with that river but you would like to have some sort of depth and or log piles stacked on top and bottom of a fairly deep hole. Lots of times this will happen on a sharp turn or from the rivers current. I like to fish these areas and sometimes fish right on the back eddy of a hole right on the current break so prepair to have plenty of weight depending on the river flow. You can really tell alot about the river just by watching the current breaks on the top of the water.
