I am in the market for a drop axle fish house and have been looking at a vee front model from Martineaus in forest lake. does any one have comments on what to get and not what to get? like vinyl vs. aluminum siding, window options, single or dual axle? this will be quite an investment and any info would be helpful. if you have a dealer that is outstanding service and price wise I would appreciate that info also. thanks alot.

I have an Ultra Shack with aluminum siding. I hear that most people prefer aluminum siding because its light and durable. Vinyl can take a serious beating under the cold conditions experienced while ice fishing. For summer time use the Aluminum will also reflect more light back off the house keeping you cooler inside than vinyl.
Your welcome to look at my Ultra shack if you want to see some ideas. I designed mine and had Frank build it for me.
[email protected]

At Road King, you can get any level of comfort your budget can afford. We will beat the competition on both pricing and service and the quality is second to none. Our trailers are rated at 3500 GVW, the fenders are standard and completely enclose the upper half of the wheel (try finding that as a standard option elsewhere.) We use aluminum siding as it performs better than vinyl siding (Thanks Grabs.) All you need to do is give us a call at
866-407-4568 and we'll design a fish house for you to fit your budget.

Matt:
Do you use alum tubing in the walls and ceiling? Or, do you use wood studs and screws? What about moisture problems? Any? If so how do you get around it. Thanks for the info.

We use 2x2 wood studs for framing. The floors use pressure treated plywood. The pressure treated plywood should last 20 years in the most demanding environment. Of course there will be lots of moisture in any fish house. That's why we use pressure treated plywood (treated wood is just treated on the outside, sort of like waterproofing your deck) for the floors, aluminum siding (doesn't rust like steel or crack like vinyl) and we use a wood backed paneling (to prevent warping.) Al of this minimizes the effects of the moisture to make a long lasting fish house. We also do not wrap the houses because who wants to trap any moisture in the walls when it is inevitable in a fish house.

I don't think they have fixed much

More playas bite the dust. Probably at least 5 more by the sounds of the reports. Gotta be at least the many so I can be out too!

Have faith. You can see progress and ice depth from previous years on the Eagle Docks FB page. They said 16 inches a day or so ago. A few years back they had 16 inches only a week before official ice out. 60s to even 70s next weekend. It will be gone before opener. I'm planning on docks and lifts next weekend, but I am in a small protected bay that goes out pretty early.

We need optimism right now. The small bays haven't even opened up yet, which is typically two weeks before the big bays lose their ice. The forecast is in our favor though and I see that it's windy today, also a great sign.

Go to the DMV, see if there's a serial number on it. They should be able to title it

I moved my blind right into the middle of the field after I left this morning. It sticks out like a sore thumb on the landscape. A friend advised me to try this. We'll see if it works later. I hate the way it looks without blending in, but I have to try something else.

For a long time I've been getting pop-ups and error pages where I have to back page. I just thought it was the price of playing in the old sand lot! 🤔
