I can't believe i didn't see your post till we got back!! we spent most of our time catching crappies on Madison. Wind sucked but the kids had alot of fun and got better at their jig fishing. they were nice males. every evening they fished off the docks in front of Lake view and caught lots of dink eyes and bullheads. everybody was butchering those fish that would not even bend if you put them in a bucket. "they claimed there were to many and need to be thinned out". no one blinked when i told them there was a size limit. We leave for Emily in 2 weeks. My wife got a 8-11 there last year. Thanks very much for the offer would have been glad to put on the waders and go with you. beer would not have been a problem either. maybe next time!!!

The narrows was CHOKED with boats. we got them by the downed tree in back and across by the other boat ramp. caught a couple 16" eyes too. Horseshoe looked like a great lake with awesome shore line but we didn't even have a hit. What's up with Eliysn(?)right before Madison? No body was fishing there. Heard they were getting some big slabs on Francis too.

St. Donatus 180 people and one set of grand parents!! you figure it out!! It's about half way between Dubuque and Bellevue on the Mighty Miss. (or close to it) Grew up a river rat but really like the lake fishing. do you fish floating Raps on 3 ways much? I heard guys say they are using braided line for their dropper from the 3 way to the rap. I still use XL.

Well yesterday was probably my last day on the water for quite a while. Wife is due in less than a week. We fished Madison in the teeth of yesterdays wind trolling cranks and a little casting when we could. Working the wind pounded shorelines, Madison was pretty good too us again. No limit but 3 of us ended up with 10 eyes, keeping 7 between 14-16", and we put back about 10 big female white crappies to spawn another day. I couldnt believe how those white crappies were attacking our shad raps. I had one big fish on and about half way too the boat it gave a big head shake and that was it, possibly a northern, but also possibly the big eye thats eluded me so far this season. Thats 5 outings on Madison this year and 70 total walleyes in the boat. I gotta believe the bite is about too slow down a bit fairly soon.

I lost my biggest eye when using the 3way!Some how the weight went into net got tangled up on a very windy day my hooks hit outside of net...sound familar...pizzed me off...that fish was well over 13lbs...so no i have not used that for over 5 years now!Clip ons for me...depending on depths but normaly about 15 foot up works wonders!Need that length or more on windy days to keep the fish down a couple feet not to break surface..No more fish loss!

Just wondering about the area in iowa is all...i do a lot of hunting around elk rock area!Wondering if you were close to that area i hear the river has lots of eyes in that neck of the woods too! Since your a ways from that guess i wont find out...haha
