Was out on a local lake this past weekend and did real well. Had a blast. Just wanted to post that we saw some real nice fish being caught and most of them that we saw went back to the lake. Seems like every year we are seeing more and more of this. We were'nt fortunate enough to catch anything over 20" but that is our cut-off. Anything 20" or over gets put back right after a quick picture. I know that just 5 years ago we did not see this type of C&R being practiced on our local lakes. Some boats that were fortunate enough to land some big gals and release them received some applause and alot of kudos from the surrounding fisherman. Makes everybody feel good to see this happening. Great Job!

I make a point to release pretty much everything I catch(I'm usually too lazy to clean fish when I get home) I did keep a limit of 15inchers Friday night out at Madison. I promised the girlfriend's mom that I would bring her home some fresh walleyes from opener. Plus I had to have somthing to show for freezing my butt off at midnight grin.gif

I'm with ya Zep. The cool thing now is that my boys want to let the big ones go and ask if they can release it! The smile after the release is as big as the one when we catch it, and a good picture.

It is nice to see that people are coming around on C & R. I have always had a personal slot limit of 15" - 19".

I'll have to agree folks ... I also fished Madison on opener and way happy to see that the average Walleye size increased over the past year. Last year I found that a particular year class dominated the catch. Despite the fact that many say too many small eyes are kept on this lake, I think the fact that the eve size you'll find now is a testament to the fact that many are practicing C&R in southern MN ... Keep it up folks and thanks for keeping our resources!
