Jig fishing for bass in a mucky lake

I'm no bass expert, but I've fished a few very murky lakes around here with a jig and pig and have done very well. Last year my biggest bass 5lbs came from a murky lake and jig&pig. I seem to do better the Northland Buckshot jig. It's has twin rattles on it which I think makes a different.

You are lucky to live on a great bass lake like cedar. Through that jig in those trees all day long. You will soon learn which trees produce. Don`t be afraid to pitch in less than a foot of water in or around cover. Another first choice would be a weightless worm and work it slow. Have fun with it. Hi folks,
My home lake (Cedar in Rice Co.) is a mucky, murky lake. I often hear about jig fishing and want to learn this technique this year. One question I have is that it seems to me that my jig and pig will disappear into a cloud of silt whenever the jig hits the bottom or if I drag it through weeds and other cover. Will the jig still be effective or is a Carolina rig to keep the bait above the silt cloud a better option for this type of fishing? If the jig will work, what size and techniques would you use for a shallow water attack?

My lake does have a couple of spots that a jig could work. A rocky point is one. A milfoil bed is another. And several of the islands have downed timber in the water.
