LOW Resorts

I am planning an early ice trip up to the big pond. Wondering if anybody had an recommendations of a good all around resort (fishing, cabins, food,price, etc..). Most important the fish. Any help would be great. Thanks

Lot's of great resort's to take care of you up this way. Take a peek at the resort locator page off of the Home page menu for some options. The early ice is a time of great fishing for sure. With lot's of action and some big fishes in the mix as well. Freeze up can vary year to year but the resorts can usually get you out by the mid-december timeframe. Some years a bit earlier....some a bit later. Fishing is great as soon as the ice is safe for sure. Take a peek down the page at a post titled "things to do on the big pond" a bit of winter info there. You could also search back to last years reports and topics from the timeframe you are thinking of coming up this winter to see what was going on then.<P>fiskyknut

I have had great luck with NW Angle Resort. Accomodations there run about 28 bucks a head for the apartment, and about 35 a head for cabins. <P>RC Carlson runs the fish houses out of there, and he has always worked his butt off to get us on fish.<P>Last December, we did an early ice trip up there. We were freelancing on 4 wheelers and portables. <P>We needed bait and tried to buy some from RC out on the lake. He gave us all we wanted, but would not take any money. He then proceeded to show us spots to try, and did we ever get into the 'eyes! He had just started running his houses for the year, and was glad to let us do some "scouting." <P>We made sure to leave him a nice tip behind at the resort for his generosity. RC is a class act of the first order. <P>We'll be back for sure at first ice again this year.

Laughing Waters is a nice place. I've been going there for three years and they do a great job. All the people there are very comfortbale to be around and we always come back with a lot of fish. Walleyes, smallies, and pike. Lakers as well. <P>Good Fishin,<BR>Matt
