Finally got into some better crappie while fishing east of the narrows on Madison. Been fishing a Buck-Shot Rattl spoon and minnow head in depths of 18-22 feet, but the best actions seems to occur late in the afternoon/evening they are just a few feet below the ice. I had to venture away from any surrounding houses, which surprised me with as much snow cover as is on top of the ice. I also was able to get some decent sunfish near the Cow's Bar (waxies/glow Fatboy jig) and think if the weather is good this week I'll try East Bay earlier in the afternoon. It might hold some sunfish potential like in years past.

It's good to hear someone caught some fish. I fished West of the narrows and had no action at all.

Can you get to the narrows at all now, I got a 2wd pick up? i fished there quite a bit earlier in the year but it didn't look like there was a decent enough road for me to make it out last fri.

Not sure about Narrows access specifically, but those fishing to the east have been driving on at the public access in town at the bottom of Main Street near the "BoatLanding". There is a good road plowed to the East towards the Church bar, East Bay, Cowbar etc...

We were out South of Millers point on Saturday from 2-8 and did not even get a bite. We could see fish on the Vexilar come right up to the bait but would not take it. Tried Clear Lake in Waseca for about an hour on Sunday and nothing. Glad to hear you caught some fish. There was a nice path plowed but if you get off it your going to get stuck. I have a 4 wheel drive Jimmy and got stuck. Had to shovel out.
Good luck and be safe.

I wouldn't try it with a 2WD coming off of the city park access to the W side of the narrows unless your vehicle has a lot of ground clearance. I pulled a guy out on Saturday. He had what I assume was a 4WD mini van. He didn't make it more than 10 feet off of the main trail.

Thanks for the info, might just have to try going for a long walk some day when it's nice. Could be nice to be out there pretty much by yourself smile.gif

It is  pretty shiny piece of equipment. I was able to purchase it on my scab job wages 😆 I don't think I'll update the electronics any time soon, 3 screens is enough?

Just another "Words matter"   Voting on school levy. This was posted on the School "education district" building door.  We had a nice cold walk all the way around the building! The arrow was added, after we educated them! 😒

Obviously this is more of a hot topic due to forward facing sonar. With that being said, I know people who have pulled crappies out of basins 40+ deep since the fl-8 and zercom flashers came out. That's over 30 years ago. I do think there's a push to ban these in MN and I could see them doing it here. They'll have to pay my livescope from my cold dead hands 😆 on days I can't catch a walleye jigging or rigging it's nice to turn it on and throw corks at individual fish

It wasn't just you, I was fishing west of you about an hour on Monday. Fished 8am-4pm, no fish, two keeper walleye and one small one from 4pm-630pm. Marked a lot of fish, they would come up to a jig and swim away. They were skittish to the dead stick too

I wonder like divers, if we let them decompress every 10' for 1/2hr. If that would help?  🤔  It would slow the bite down a bit!  🤭
