Road situation for a pickup?

Recommended Posts

kgun

Heard Adrians has a road out 19 miles, last year we were up there with sleds during the rain in March, slammed em on bridges, this year was hoping to drive around the lake with the truck (Mar 12,13 & 14th)? Same old question, I guess....How much accessability will we have and are there forks in the road a guy can drive out on?

Dont count on driving a truck out to Bridges. There is a brief

window when the snow is mostly gone and you can drive anywhere (including places you should not). But you have to be ready

to go on a day or so notice.

Last weekend the road was 13.8 miles past Pine Island, and 4 miles across the bay of course, totaling about approx. 18 miles. There is still a decent little trek to Knight and Bridges from there.

Mr. Wizard

VMan,

Joes Dad gave me your cell # so I'll be calling you one of these days for insite. We're headed north with sleds and portables 3/12 for spring break. I'll be looking for where the hot bite is. Bob said hes bring the wheel house so maybe we'll set up one day near you. I love the reefs but the last trip up there was slow.

Wizard -

Sounds good. Bob called me last night and gave me the low down. I actually bought his 97 XLT for the same reason you mentioned - fishing the reefs.

I've also heard they've been slow and some reports even show that the resorts are moving the houses off of them. I'll have my wheel house parked somewhere off of Adrians road, probably near the gap, and fish deeper or on the reefs midday.

Call anytime and we'll figure something out. If you want to email me it is:

anybody have recent reports of how the truck travel off road has been this weekend? I am hoping to be able to drive the truck off the roads next weekend, do you think it will be possible?

Its questionable. The road is getting very sloppy with a crack that follows Adrians road out past pine island and water is starting to come up. The road did break open but they rerouted the road.

My parents were up yesterday and Wednesday and they did pretty good. Out in the mud in about 33-34 feet. Lots of boats were trolling but they did well looking for pods of fish and then spot-locking over the top of them and jigging with leeches and frozen shiners.

Is the water starting to recede on the lakes East of Orr? I heard it was really high on Myrtle. We're coming up to Black Duck in a week or so, just wondering if things are getting back more towards normal.

I’ve fished sylvan heavily the last two years. Done very well. Many nice pike, bass, walleye, and bluegill. For pike trolling shadraps pretty much any where will get you all the 20”-25” pike you want. Plenty of dence cover all over for bass and that is the usual bass presentations. And for gills in the spring the channel between the two bays was VERY good this past spring went three days in a row and got 2 limits each time ( two angles in the boat) and relesed many many more.  Also the panfish limit on sylvan is 5 per person so be aware of that. I was out there 2 weeks ago and did ok. Again two limits of nice gills and a handful of pike but it took a lot of work to find them. I’m unsure of the walleye fishing out there but have heard it’s a good lake. Im not an expert on sylvan but know a little so hope this helps ya out. Good luck!

The last two times on the river have been slow to say the least. Trolled Shipping channels, river channels, and all the flats. Crawler harnesses and crank baits. Anybody having any luck out there?

If the water is that clear and you can see 17-20 feet down, the fish will be very spooky.  And if the sun is out, they will be looking for relief from the sun in the form of shade.  Night time might actually be a better option.

Not terrible.  But they can be merciless, I will tell you.
