Howdy,

I know of a couple of guys that are filling up with crappies every night out there.. can't tell you where, only because I really don't know. I am going out there this weekend. I will give you all a report this weekend. here is just a little fact about spring: There are more walleyes out there per acrea than Lake Mille Lacs. Pretty weird huh? I have yet to talk to anyone that has caught a walleye out there!

Later < keep your stick on the ice wink.gif >

i've caught walleye out there in the summer. this year the crappies were going crazy. you could go out anytime and catch crappies with just a tube jig. now that the lake has froze up i can't seem to find them.i've been all over the west side and south side of the lake and i can't find them at night.will be going out again looking on sun.

Where is this spring Lake? Is it around here at all? Would like to try it when I find some time if you guys could lead a little direction on where it is.

Did very well with the eyes the day before season closed last year on Spring. Caught 8 in one night all between 2 and 4 pounds. Missed a big one at the whole. Fished the same holes the next two nights, not one walleye. Fished the same area a few weeks ago, three tiny crappies. Last year there were tons of small eyes on the aque vu between the points in shallow water but none were hungry. Good lake with some decent structure for the area but hit or miss for the eyes.

Thanks for the info guys.

Slab I was wondering the same thing. Guys are you talking about the Spring lake just SW of Prior? Almost looks like it's attached to Prior on the map.

Yes, Spring lake is the one that is SW of Prior lake. It has walleyes in it, but you have to go deep, and later in the day. Try off either one of the points on the south side, out about 22-24 ft. of water, Good luck, Growler.

The crappie bite on Spring has been awesome on Spring this winter. But it's been a day bite. Nothing after 4 o'clock.

I've been fishing the N-NW shoreline. Fishing in 18-21ft. The crappies are suspending up to 10ft off the bottom. If you are in the right area, your Vex will literally look red from bottom to 10ft. Using my smallest teardrop(black) and 1 larvae. Minnows produce very few bites and even a whole waxie is not producing as well as the larvae. Tiny, Tiny, Tiny. The crappies run fairly small(7-9 inches), but the action has been fierce. I haven't been out since last weekend(17th), so I'm not sure if they are still going. The snow cover could have an impact on the bite.

It is  pretty shiny piece of equipment. I was able to purchase it on my scab job wages 😆 I don't think I'll update the electronics any time soon, 3 screens is enough?

Just another "Words matter"   Voting on school levy. This was posted on the School "education district" building door.  We had a nice cold walk all the way around the building! The arrow was added, after we educated them! 😒

Obviously this is more of a hot topic due to forward facing sonar. With that being said, I know people who have pulled crappies out of basins 40+ deep since the fl-8 and zercom flashers came out. That's over 30 years ago. I do think there's a push to ban these in MN and I could see them doing it here. They'll have to pay my livescope from my cold dead hands 😆 on days I can't catch a walleye jigging or rigging it's nice to turn it on and throw corks at individual fish

It wasn't just you, I was fishing west of you about an hour on Monday. Fished 8am-4pm, no fish, two keeper walleye and one small one from 4pm-630pm. Marked a lot of fish, they would come up to a jig and swim away. They were skittish to the dead stick too

I wonder like divers, if we let them decompress every 10' for 1/2hr. If that would help?  🤔  It would slow the bite down a bit!  🤭
