I was talking to some people that were saying crappies were their favorite fish to eat. That got me wondering, since everyone in my family hates crappies(to mushy-soft)What are other people favorite fish to eat? (other then Walleye/perch everyones favorite) My top 3 are:
1.Bluegills skin on.
2.Northern-deboned.
3.Trout-smoked.

Catfish are great! I also like bluegills and perch during the winter as well. I will keep the smaller crappies to eat, like 8-10 inchers, that way they are less mushy. Walleyes, like you said, are at the top as well.

I'd have to rate bluegills as my favorite. I'd even go out on a limb and rank them above walleye. Whereas nobody in your immediate family likes crappies, I'd rank them up there as one of my favorites as well. But I'm just the crazy nephew. wink.gif

I like walleye the best but I also like to take Northerns put some in aluminum foil with butter and garlic salt and bake or grill them. Just talking about it makes me hungry for it right now. My husband likes crappie and walleye of course. I like most fish if cooked properly.

I would deffinatly have to go with these four. Winter Crappies are always the best along with Walleyes. Then to bring up the tail end i would have to say blue gills. I dont know much about perch becuase i have never caught many perch and when i do, their either too small or wormy. But then i would have to say That Catfish (if cooked properly) is most execelent!!

Bluegills any season, winter crappies, then stream trout. Fillet the panfish, roll then in flour. Salt and pepper them and then fry them to a golden brown in lots of hot grease and butter. You know the healthy way of cooking. A baked patatoe with a pound of butter and half a pound of salt. Tossed salad with Western dressing. A hot home made loaf of bread, again with another pound of butter and a smooth cocktail to wash it all down. It doesn't get any better. Would rather have that kind of a meal then fancy steak at a expensive resturant.

No really I rate crappies and walleye about the same. Then sunnies and perch. I bake all my fish with a little butter and lemon pepper on them. Yup good eating!

Guess I'm old school. I love my walleyes.

However my ranking goes as this:
1: Walleyes in the 12 to 16 inch range
2: Walleyes in the 16 to 18 inch range (anything bigger just doesn't taste as good to me)
3: Sunnies
4: Crappies
5: Catfish
6: Pike (pickeled)
