I don't know if the fishing is really that bad or NOBODY is giving much advice.
I will tell ya I have been out 3 times this year and have had limited success, Once on mazaska that yielded 1 eye and one crappie that we kept. Roberds that let us keep 2 eyes, Kelly dudley where we kept 2 sunnies. My daughters and I did have fun catching Bucketmouths on 2-lb test on Kelly-Dudley.
Is there anybody else willing to testify to thier limited success.
Looking to go out in the next few days, how about the French lake, Cedar, Shields, Mazaska success lately.

Happy Rippin.

I wish I had something good to report.
Tried Frances at night a couple weeks ago and got one northern and one crappy.
Been on Washington a few times. Took home a few sunnies, but saw little of anything else.

The past 2+ weeks have been VERY slow everywhere that I have been.

Sure hope others are having better luck than I!

Fish seem to be sooooooooooooo finicky and hard to catch, for me anyone. See them on the vex, see them come to my bait, flip me off and go back to the bottom or out of the cone never to return. I have tried waxies, minnows, artificial .... small jigs, big jigs, spoons... you name it and its been down the hole... to no avail.

Maybe this weekend will be better as the weather seems to be getting better and finally somewhat steady.

Good luck all.

It's pretty slow "all over". Name a lake and its the same story...at least in central minnesota. I don't know about the rest of the state! The metro area is pretty slow, thats for sure!

fished Madison today all day for 3 craps and 1 perch...........lots of fish on the vex but no interest in the bait.....but it was still a great day of fishing!!

try down size the jigs, keep going smaller until they bite and go 1 or 2 lb test line. also try dead sticking the rod in a holder and watch the rod tip for a bite

I had some sucess tuesday on Madison Lake.
Every thing that came through from 3 until just before sunset scattered every time a car drove by. The fish were not that active.
Around sunset I got sick of the traffic and decide to move in shallow area with no houses. The crappies were there and from 630 to 830 I had a limit.

One interesting point was I had a coleman lantern going on the ice near the holes most of the time I fished, after moving it in the sled behind me the fish came to life.

Watching the Marcum they would blast off the bottom hit my minnow and take it up three feet ! I would then reel up the slack and set the hook.

What a blast ! however I did lose my cell phone down the hole and by 830 I was sure momma was calling and worried so I had to go.

This weekend I will try fishing only where there are no houses or cars and I will be setting out landmines around to keep them away.

I have been gulity of fishing and not telling but then up until tuesday it had been pretty slow.

OK, it's not all bad...I've been fishing lake washington the past few weeks. The fishing between grassy and third point was nuts for the previous three weeks - then it shut down. Fished 26 feet of water and the morning bite was the best.

Now I have moved to Bakers Bay, fished last night, twelve crappies (lost one and a small fish), six sunfish (2 nice ones), perch, and one small walleye. I fished from 4:30 - 7:30. Fished in 16 feet of water, set the bobbers three feet off. The two large sunfish came through at 10 feet, pulled up and BAM!

I'm sure there are many others catching limits of fish, I know of at least three houses taking fish every time they are out.

Good luck, drive safe.

Down size your lure, use small waxies, keep your lure "glowed up" and stay away from the crowds. Back to the basics as they say.

I have been catching big numbers of crappies the last week or so with some size to go along with those numbers. Early morning and evenings have been produced equally as good.

If I told you everything "smackles", then it wouldn't be any sort of a challenge.

I'll be out again tomorrow night and will report my results.
