Has anyone been catching anything on lake elysian? If so what have they been catching?

Posted

Heard they were getting some eyes out of there, but I can't verify it. Haven't fished myself.

My family used to own a cabin on elysian and i went down there a couple of years after we sold it. The boys down at the bait shop said that it winter killed. I find it hard to believe but I've never seen anyone fish it since. Sucks man, I grew up fishing that lake....

The lake did winterkill again a few years back but as it always does its coming back nicely.

There have been some walleyes caught, but MANY in the 6-10 in range. I don't like fishing it now, because it's primarily a tip-up lake and you will kill the little ones waiting for one or two to keep.
The areation (sp?) is supposed to be on so be careful not to fall in. The lake has had the most deaths in the past 10 years, it's never totally safe.

Just curious but how many people have died there in the last ten years?

I don't know the specifics, but I have talked to the sportmans club and they say it has been one of the most dangerous lakes in the state, in terms of deaths. I know of 2, which doesn't sound like a lot, but in perspective it is. The has been talk about keeping motorized vehicles off the lake after dark, and starting the areation system sooner, just talk though.

Hey Gutz,

Remember when we used to catch stripers, largemouth, walleyes, and northerns right off the dock?! That "used" to be a great lake. Sucks we had to sell the cabin...but no one really used it anymore. I guess you'll have to come up to Lake Vermillion when I build mine. Lyndsey and I are going to the Texas Fishing Convention in a little bit...I'll get some info on Lake Fork! smile.gif
Have a great weekend and catch a few for me! Later doop

I hear ya doop, right off the dock. Walleyes would come in to the shallows to feed and we would nail em off the dock. I caught the biggest walleye i've ever caught in that lake 8lbs 27.5in. Wish we still had it....

It is  pretty shiny piece of equipment. I was able to purchase it on my scab job wages 😆 I don't think I'll update the electronics any time soon, 3 screens is enough?

Just another "Words matter"   Voting on school levy. This was posted on the School "education district" building door.  We had a nice cold walk all the way around the building! The arrow was added, after we educated them! 😒

Obviously this is more of a hot topic due to forward facing sonar. With that being said, I know people who have pulled crappies out of basins 40+ deep since the fl-8 and zercom flashers came out. That's over 30 years ago. I do think there's a push to ban these in MN and I could see them doing it here. They'll have to pay my livescope from my cold dead hands 😆 on days I can't catch a walleye jigging or rigging it's nice to turn it on and throw corks at individual fish

It wasn't just you, I was fishing west of you about an hour on Monday. Fished 8am-4pm, no fish, two keeper walleye and one small one from 4pm-630pm. Marked a lot of fish, they would come up to a jig and swim away. They were skittish to the dead stick too

I wonder like divers, if we let them decompress every 10' for 1/2hr. If that would help?  🤔  It would slow the bite down a bit!  🤭
