The wife and I are planning a trip towards the end of august first part of september and we were wondering where a good place to camp would be? We are not really familiar with the lake other than we have done some northern fishing in march around the springsteel area. We have our own boat (18ft 100hp) we will be sleeping in a tent and we would like to catch walleyes. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

Zippel Bay State Park has beautiful campsites, a ramp and slips. That'd be my first choice. Alot of the resorts N. of Baudette have campsites also but these are kinda cramped with other campers and tents {elbow to elbow} from what I've seen. There is also a campsite along the highway N. of Baudette that used to be a KOA but I can't remember if it's still KOA or if the name has been changed. Warroad has a municipal campground also with alot of room that time of year.<P>Regards....Fisky

I agree Zipple Bay State Park is a great place to camp. It is dosen't have any modern facilites but it does have great boat landing and docking facilites. There is a hand pump well for water. Also your close to many good locations for fishing for that time of year. I would definately recommend it!

Nelsen Park at Birchdale on the Rainy River has some nice camp sites. Good Sturgeon fishing too. Not as secluded camping as Zipple Bay State Park though.

Assabaska Campgroud between Berglund and Morson is an awesome campgroud. It used to be a Provincial Park. However, the government gave it back to the Natives. It has a shower house and great sites along the lake. Sunsets and sunrises are gorgeous. It also has two boatlandings which come in handy if it is windy. You can hit many fishing spots from there too. Have a great time wherever you end up.

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now.  Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more!   Anyway, do you like fishing?  Trolling's kind of fun!  🤭

Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN.  Should be easy now. Have fun.    Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
