Has anyone been sucessful down rigging ouyt by Stoney or Garden?? How about the South Shore. Also is the depth coming out of Lighthouse Gap any better?? A couple of weeks ago the south wind sucked the water out of Four Mile Bay and it got down to about a foot deep in the channel...TNX Kaz<P>------------------<BR>KAZ

Hi Richard. When are you heading up? I was up Wednesday and did fairly well. Most of our fish came off the reefs but we caught some very nice fish pulling cranks west of long point. I'm heading up again tomorrow--will let you know how we do. Thanks again for the antenna job. It still makes me smile hearing the chatter from all around the lake. You are certainly a radio wizard.

Which rapalas are working the best for downrigging. The original fat rap shad works best for me. How about other people?<P>Kupcho

I like to run half of the lines with <BR>shallow runners half with deep divers,<BR>changing colors and brands every 10 <BR>minutes if they are not producing. This<BR>keeps you busy if nothing else.<P>The chrome silver and blue shallow running<BR>Shap Rap is one of my starters and I have<BR>a silver Husky Jerk that works just about<BR>all the time. (just about). Yellow, firetiger, perch I just keep changing until<BR>I have the lines producing or its time to<BR>go home.<P>Dont give up, I have some ultra cheap white<BR>chug bug style crank baits that barely track<BR>that have really saved the day on more than<BR>one trip. My brother gave them to me and I<BR>was really giving him a bad time until we<BR>started hoistin the Walleyes with em.<P>If there is point to this ramble it is, try<BR>everything in the box every time you go out<BR>until you are catching the fish you want on<BR>every line. Even the cranks you dont like<BR>so well.<P>I have a wire spinner that will pull a <BR>crawler behind the rigger. I am gonna<BR>try that this summer too, maybe with some<BR>Berkley Gulp crawlers.<P>Good luck to all<P>------------------<BR>Curt Quesnell<BR>NorthCountry Outdoors Radio

Kaz,<BR>They had the pearl shad raps a couple weeks ago at Streiff's. Give Wade a call at 386-2590 and he should be able to fix you up.

TARGET=_blank>http://www.streiffsportinggoods.com/About/About.htm.</A> Thought I would help out since I know Tuff boy doesn't read so well. Pat: Not sure, but it looks like I have to stick around until about the 9 of Aug. My son is moving and we have to take the five year olds for a few days. I have been hearing mxed reports about the downriggin... My buddy has been up and he says it has been tough one day and not to bad the next. Probably a couple more trips befopre I move the boat for some Superior and Lk Mich trout and salmon. I've got your phone number so I'll touch base with you before I come up. Thanks Kaz

Hi Folks,<P>Ma just ended her trip to Long Point this past sunday with great success using Yo-zuri's and downrigging. Her exact location is unknown to me. <BR>Ma must've at least 40 yo-zuri's and never caught a stinking thing with them until this past trip. Color didn't seem to matter from the way it sounded, but this lure was key to their success. Their boat was catching fish while almost all others in her party were getting skunked (oh this tends to upset the so-called pro fisher"men" from her work). Ma stated that the "guys" were asking to borrow her gear; boy I wish I could've been there to see the men swallowing their pride. Gotta love it, women outfishing the men. <BR>Anyway, ma's boat picked up 1 @ 29 1/2", 1 @ 28", and dozens of fish in the 24-27" range. She did mention that they were having problems hooking up with the smaller fish, not that they had a problem with this, but the fish fry wasn't quite as abundant as years past, although they had 3 within a weeks course.<P>So they way it sounds, the zuri's were the ticket when all else failed. Hope this helps anyone heading up LOW.<P>Stephen

Ya, 120.00 sux. I have Access Broadband, they just raised their rate from 50.00 to 75.00. I'm lucky to get 3 to 5 mbts up or down, sometimes I'll get better. In fairness to them, they have been great trying to respond to my needs, but just can't improve my service. They said that they doubt I'll ever be able to stream a Wild game. I just purchased a new streaming box and it buffers none stop. With the new streaming box and the referral discount, I'll be able to cancel Sling, so, I'll save about 10.00 on my monthly bill. That's what I told my wife 😀 it's true...

That's a better price than when I bought a few years ago. I pulled the giant box across the ice on an old Radio Flyer sled late winter.   Good luck. You'll enjoy Starlink, except for paying the bill. Mine was originally $100/mo, then $110/mo, then they said I was in a low usage area so they dropped my bill to $90/mo for the last two years. I just got a letter a month or so ago saying that we are now in a "high usage" area so they raised it to $120/mo.

I did the app thing. The best place is the middle of my yard and that's not going to happen. I have a tripod stand and a "J" type stand. I've also looked at trimming some trees for a better view of the sky. Once I get it, I'll have to try different areas. Maybe I'll have to hire a guy to climb my tree and install it- I've seen YouTube videos on that. Middle of my roof looks to be somewhat clear, but I don't like to put holes in the shingles. Plus, it's a 12/12 pitch and I don't have Velcro shoes. If anyone is looking to buy Starlink, it's on sale till 4/30 at $159.00. If you do buy it, I can give to a referral code and we'll both get a free month.

With the current conditions and weather forecast I would still stick to Sunday, May 4th.  I almost guarantee Vermilion will be ice-free by the opener on May 10th.  Very likely someone on the list will have the correct date.

Black Bay began opening yesterday afternoon. I could see ice moving around in the middle.

I've got it too. It works great if you can get a clear view of the sky, works decent if there are blockages. I had to take down two trees and still have branches that reach out and interrupt.   Some people have their dish mounted on shore which probably helps a lot. You can download the Starlink app and then walk around your property. It will assess any spot to see if you'll get enough coverage.

I've seen them at the Cub in Minnetonka and just a few weeks ago, the Cub in Chanhassen. The little smelt, smaller than sardines.
