Vikings & Cowboys

It's all about the line of scrimmage with these Vikes. If we are winning on both sides of the ball, or even close to neutral, then I say we win at home pretty easily. Give Romo the artificial noise and some real pressure (like looking out his ear hole after a sack from #69), and watch the TV guys eat their words. If they double Allen all night and he can't break through, then it better be wake up time for Kevin and Ray.

Likewise, those book-end tackles of ours better drink some red bull before the game because they aren't the fastest guys around. At least have a PLAN in place if they can't cover the outside rush.

I never thought I would say this but the Vikings have a chance to win if the defense tackles below the waist. NO MORE MISSED or BROKEN TACKLES!!!!!

Im not sure who I want to win this one? confused

I have always despised the Cowboys, as anyone that calls themselfs "americas team" deserves a kick to the groin! whistle

On the other hand.... My involvement with FM over the years has turned me into a Purple Hater. grin WAY too much Kool-aide being consumed and handed out in that state...

I do see this game going the Queens way though as long as they dont self distruct or let Chilly drag them down...

The Girls do have momentum but big deal, the second most overrated qb(Romo) beat the most overrated qb(McNabb) two games in a row...

Theres some fuel for the fire, enjoy... cool

I hope all ESPN's "experts" pick the Cowboys like they did the Packers!

They are picking the Cowboys. However, if the Cowboys are as much a better team as they are telling us why has Las Vegas set the line at -3 for the Vikings? Believe the pros in Vegas not the NY sutdios.

I really want to believe the Vikes wont let me down but...they are the Vikes. It would really suck losing to such a lame Dallas team. If we can just get after Romo they don't have a chance.

Actually the most overated QBs are Romo, Rogers, Vick, and STEAVE YOUNG. Mcnabb is a great QB. JAMARCUSS RUSSEL is defenitally the worst QB I have ever seen.

The thing with Romo, is he is the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. Probably the most scrutinized single position in the entire NFL. There is a lot of media attention and scrutiny that comes with being the QB in Big D.

Yea, alot of hot famous women too.....

got that right.

should be a good game. we need to put alot of pressure on romo, and stop there running game! I think our offence will be fine, just a matter what team shows up!

The national media makes me sick. I read an artical just boasting about Dallas and how their defense only gave up 90yds rushing a game. Completely failed to mention the Vikes gave up 87yds rushing per game! In fact we are the 6th ranked defense in the league yards wise, Dallas is 9th. Then goes on saying how dangerous the Cowboys offense is. Dallas scored 360 points this year, the Vikings scored 470!! The fact is when you look at the numbers the Cowboys don't have a chance. Does Jerry Jones own ESPN??

Wasn't more than a month ago and the same national media was rubbing their chubby fingers together trying to figure out how to dismantle the whole Cowboy team/staff after they miss the play-offs...Now, after beating an average Philly team twice at HOME, they are the favorites to take it all...go figure.

I'm just glad the Browns aren't in the play-offs...could you imagine all the love this team would be getting right now after winning four straight down the stretch! whistle

I think what zepman points out is probably a big reason why the media is jumping on the cowboys bandwagon. I guess if you base your opinion on the last 1/4 of the season it makes sense that they are favoring the cowboys. I still think though that the game being in the dome offsets many of the cowboy advantages and that the vikings will prevail in a close one.

now if only there was a way to get the superbowl in the dome so they don't have to lose once they get to miami.

fishersofmen had a post saying that the Cowboys hold very few advantages over the Vikes...at least statistically speaking.

To me, the Cowboys have the advantage of the Vikings playing with a rookie middle linebacker, and an injured Winfield.

I think McKinney and Loadholdt will come to play and Jimmy K. will help out on the edge enough to neutralize their pass rush enough for Favre to be effective at moving the ball. McKinney needs to have a huge game...he's not in the pro-bowl for nothing and he was very good earlier in the year. This could be his break-out game.

True, this game is going to come down to our offensive line against the Cowboys D-line. If our line gives Favre the protection he needs and can at least do some decent blocking for AP we will win the game. Our defense plays 10 times better at home, I think they will hold their own.

Turnovers being the other factor of course.

MN also had one of the, if not THE easiest schedules in the league this year, so the numbers don't tell the entire story, partner.

Yeeeeehaawwwww. Giddy up!

Thats why I've always agreed with Belichek when he replied to a reporters stats as stats are for the media and fantasy football geeks. Football is about matchups and a players desire - nothing else.

Anyone here remember December 28th 1975??

I still haven't forgiven the Cowboys or Drew Pearson.

I hope Rice, Shiancoe, Harvin or Berrian get a push off hail mary touchdown, that the refs don't call against us that wins it for us in the final seconds grin
Of course.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!

Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
