Thanks for the help. But i did see that there is a tournament going on at that time maybe that is why you wouldn't want to say any thing.

Well I may of got back sooner to your question but those little catfishes needed skinnin' and fryin. July, then August fishing are the most iffy of months for nearshore reliability. Julyish fish will usually pattern into one or another midsummer thing and if you get out there on the right wind or/and day you will like it. Some fish are always in shallow water thru the summer, but the better fishing is quite some ways out from shoreline haunts. Depending on how far you want and can safely travel you can get fish major. Concerning that derby you mention most of the bigger weights came some 12 miles out at least from Warroad, and the better fishing is usually further than that. What kinda fishing are you after and what's your boat like? Post more info and I could be of more help to you maybe, anyways good luck. You should be able to get limits of eater fish in Muskeg bay somewhere anyhow.
Fisky

Hooker: Depends when, but a lot of downriggin is going on in the later part of July. Mostly on the north end by Garden or over toward Stony. This year things are quite different in that the fish seem to of already moved to the rock piles. Maybe the very low water has something to do with it. Best you call ahead as thiong change daily....Kaz

I'll be up there the week of the 13th. I have a reletives that lives up there so I might stay for a day or two. I lived up there from 1983 to 1990 and worked at Christian Bros for 2 years and then went to Marvins. (kinda miss it)but I didn't have a boat at the time so I have to try to make up for some lost time. My last name is Dale so some of yous may know some of my reletives up there.? I'll be in a 2001 LUND EXPLORER SS with a JOHNSON 90 on it, it only goes about 40 mph acording to the GPS. I live next to lake vermilion so i've been fishing that lake last few years but i'd like to check out the LOW.

I plan on coming up this week. What are my limits as far as the lake goes with my Lund Fisherman w/125. Would love to make it up there but dont want to get into any trouble if the fish pull me way out in the lake.

Wacker,
You should be able to get out to anywhere you wanna go with your boat as long as the wind is not blowing to terribly strong.
Good luck....Fisky

WW. as fisky said keep an eye on the wind. It's a long ride home when you've got to buck those big waves!
------------------
Old Guide Charters
Lake of the Woods
http://fishingminnesota.com/oldguidecharters/
Call Toll Free:1-800-952-(9484)

As far as the waves go...bring them on. Personally I love fishing in a big wind with the pounding waves as long as I dont get into any serious trouble. Have never been on a lake that big and was just curious what I might be able to handle. Thanks for the help.

WW: If you haven't been out there before, it may be a new experience with the wind and waves. A couple of weeks ago I was out in Zipple Bay and we had seven footers on the way back to the Light House Gap. Unless you are VERY careful you can get into trouble fast. I've got a 25' SportCRAFT and even with that, it was no picnic on the way back. Just be careful and you will have a great time up there. Take along a Marine radio for safety and monitor the guide boats on channels 12 and 82. .....Kaz

I'll be heading up i'll have to keep a eye on the weather. I've been stuck on that lake before in some big rollers before and it wasn't very fun. What are you guys catching the walleyes on now?
