Fishlover,
Pic of me on the home page is an early June Pike that was caught in 6 foot within a mile of Springsteel. Lot's of BIG Pike in Muskeg bay. By the time you get up here most of the larger fish should be in deeper water. Try out on, and around 5-mile reef. I've seen and caught nice ones out there come the warmer months of summer. A #9 Shad Rap in char/pearl or Clown usually gets torn up. A large live baitfish under a bobber is good bet too. If you can't get out there due to wind there's always some smaller fish in around shoreline areas, and you'll have a shot at nicer ones too, try up near Elm pt. or the S. shoreline of Muskeg bay, and try various depths. I think most of the larger fish are gonna be in deeper water by the July timeframe.
Good luck....Fisky

thank you for the info, my wife and i greatly appreciate it and are looking forword to going up there. by the way that is a nice pike. i have another question what do you recomend for line for both walleyes and northerns up there.
------------------
FISH

As for the best line, it is often a personel choice. I like to use 14# fire line. It is good for trolling, casting, and running bottom bouncers. Have caught a lot of fish using it. I do use it in the 4# test for jigging. It does require a little more caution when fighting fish (no stretch). Good Luck!

Make sure you use a polyomer knot when using fireline. (not sure if I spelled that right)

yah i just learned that on e thats the one where you double up 4 inches or so of line then feed it through, then use the beginning of the square not and loop it around the lure. I have been practicing. thanx again Pounnder
------------------
FISH

Fisky, where is the best place along shorelines for northerns? I havn't really targeted them except for in the spring..Would it work to anchor and throw some deadbait along the shallow weedy sandbars? Thanks much and Happy fishing.

FishLovER, I don't think you will have any problems finding some northerns for picture taking. Try the top of the 12 mile with husky jurks (clown or Chartruse the bigger the better!) Don't forget about the slot on those bigger ones, nothing kept between 30 and 40 inches. I had a couple of proud fishermen ask if I had a tape so they could measure thier two big northerns. They had a 38 and a 39 incher, They were not aware of the slot...... Good Luck!!
------------------
Old Guide Charters
Lake of the Woods
http://fishingminnesota.com/oldguidecharters/
Call Toll Free:1-800-952-(9484)

I don't think they have fixed much

More playas bite the dust. Probably at least 5 more by the sounds of the reports. Gotta be at least the many so I can be out too!

Have faith. You can see progress and ice depth from previous years on the Eagle Docks FB page. They said 16 inches a day or so ago. A few years back they had 16 inches only a week before official ice out. 60s to even 70s next weekend. It will be gone before opener. I'm planning on docks and lifts next weekend, but I am in a small protected bay that goes out pretty early.

We need optimism right now. The small bays haven't even opened up yet, which is typically two weeks before the big bays lose their ice. The forecast is in our favor though and I see that it's windy today, also a great sign.

Go to the DMV, see if there's a serial number on it. They should be able to title it

I moved my blind right into the middle of the field after I left this morning. It sticks out like a sore thumb on the landscape. A friend advised me to try this. We'll see if it works later. I hate the way it looks without blending in, but I have to try something else.

For a long time I've been getting pop-ups and error pages where I have to back page. I just thought it was the price of playing in the old sand lot! 🤔
