What a night! Full of elation then bitter dissapointment! Here is a story about Old Blue, the northern that couldnt be caught. <P> Well, I went out at about 10:00 looking for a good midnight snack, the crawdad. As I shined flashlight back and forth, I saw her, Old Blue, 10+ sitting in less than 2 feet of water, oblivious to the world. I sprinted back to grab my rod and net, I mean world record sprinting speed, and when I came back, Old Blue was still sitting there, waiting for a fool like me to try my luck. Well I cast that rap out as far as I could and began my tedious retrive. Whoosh! Old Blue just hammered it huge boil. She ran but it was no use, I brought her in. As she neared I grabbed the net and in she went...And it was as if she came back to life, doing two things at once. Snap! went my line. Following that, Snap! went the net. Out swam Old Blue. Now, I almost couldve cried. But before that happened, Sluuurp. Sluuurp. I could'nt believe it. There was Old Blue. Staying at the surface gulping down water and air.....swimming to shore not 50 feet from me. I grabbed half the net and went to cut it off. There I was, waiting, Old Blue coming towards me, 5 feet, 4 feet, 2 feet, then a foot. head barely below the surface. I raised the net to give him a whack and..<BR>I couldnt do it. Old Blue had done it again. She slowly backed out and dissapeared from view. <P> Now I didnt get Old Blue, and how my lure wasnt still in her mouth, I'll never know, but what I did get was a heckofa souvenir. I bet not too many people will have a broken net hanging on their wall. I sure had my excitment for the day. <P><BR>------------------<BR>"Power? Fame? Prestige?
