I would greatly appreciate some info on what to expect .. what the fish are biting on etc.. and what the weather is like this time of year ( what clothing to bring ). Thanks a lot.
OhioFisherman

Welcome to the big pond "Ohio..." With just a little luck, you can run into some excellent walleye fishing on LOTW. Presentation, jigs and lindy rigs with minnows or leeches, all of which will be readily available in the bait shops around the lake.
On LOTW you can almost count on the wind. Be prepared for 70 degrees or be prepared for 50 degrees. Medium weight rain gear is nice even if it's not raining because it cut's the wind.
Here's hoping you get a fryin pan full... cool.gif

Thanks for the info guys I appreciate it. I know the walleye fishing up there at LoTW is good .. how about other species of fish such as Pike / Smallmouth ???

Cyrus resort is in Bostic Creek. We stayed there last weekend. It is on a river which is really shallow this year, so get directions out to the lake so you don't bottom out your boat. The nice thing is after you get out of the River into the lake, your in the Gap, start fishing as soon as you get to the lake. Just look for all the boats, and go into the crowd.

Hello Ohio, unless you are staying at the Resort for special reasons... let me tell suggest a couple of things. First, I'd stay in Warroad. The Patch Motel can fix you up with great rooms for half what you'll pay at a resort. Second, you can go up to Buffalo Point and fish Buffalo Bay. You can't help get fish... best fishing on the Lake. Pull a few shadraps in the bay and you'll have fishing to write home about.
Good luck.

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now. Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight. Not sure where they went. Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did. But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far. Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens. It's just a waiting game now. Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well: https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/ Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast. Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more! Anyway, do you like fishing? Trolling's kind of fun! 🤭

Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭 Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN. Should be easy now. Have fun. Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
