Wild Boars in Wisconsin

I hear they are supposed to be up here but I have yet to see one.

Has anybody ever hunted them?

More specifically, with archery?

i know a guy that hunted a ranch in wisconsin someplace pretty big boars, he used a gun but you can use bow up there not sure what it was called

Try a search on the DNR website, they list areas that they've been spotted in. A few guys have mentioned seeing them in northern WI in the WI forum.

Wild boars/pigs are very destructive. If you like to hunt ground nesting birds like pheasants and ruffed grouse, you don't want wild pigs around as they are very efficient at finding the nests and wiping them out. They also will take a fawn. They multiply worse than rabbits. They usually get into an area by escaping from hunting ranches. A friend from Kentucky tells me they would do anything to get rid of the things, because of all the damage they do to wildlife and crops. Also they are a disease risk to hog farmer's herds. IMHO I would not support a business that has them in the Midwest. If you want to hunt them, go South as the farmer's absolutely hate them. Good winter trip and you can do your part to control a pest.

About three years back we had a pretty healthy population, there was speculation that they were escaped off a game farm and after a few mild winters we had them all over the place. We manage to take 6 of them on our land, neighbors took a few as well. They did quite a bit of damage to our plots and land. Not sure if the wolves combined with the harsh winters took them all out as we haven't seen sign of them since then.
