I am taking my Dad up to Tamarack Lodge near Souix Narrows. Tamarack is on an island out of Morson. Has anyone stayed there and how's the fishing like around July 1st? We are looking at Walleye and Pike.

Been a long time since I was there....14-15 years ago. Last time was bear hunting, that was good as was the fishing. If the same owners still own it, they went out of their way to make sure you were having a fun, successful trip. The resort was very nice and clean. My buddy backed out on me at the last minute and the owners and their "help" took me in under their wing. Own of the gals from the kitchen helped me get my bear out, showed me where to fish and took me on a little sight seeing tour of the lake and some Indian paintings. I'd play cards in the kitchen with them each night till the generator was turned off. The summer fishing in that area is usually pretty consistant. Good Luck to you....Ken

Cherndog,
The walleyes are likely to be on the off-shore reefs and humps just to the East of Tamarack Lodge if the warming of the water progresses at a normal or quicker than normal pace. I would reccomend that you contact your resort or the Ontario MNR to get a chart of that area of the lake well ahead of your trip. This will help you plan. Do you have a GPS? If so I would be happy to give you some common starting spots. What you learn from there will be up to you. You may also wish to consider hiring a guide for the first day, they are reasonably priced in Canada and this will give you a good start in gathering location types, successful local techniques etc. Email me at
<[email protected]> if you want a few waypoints to get started with. Good luck, have fun and always be looking for rocks close to the surface.

Great advice. We do not have a GPS, but we did get a guide for the first day. We are looking forward to Northern as well as Walleye. We want the eats and the battles. What would the GPS do for me?
I grew up on a northern minnesota lake so we knew the area so well we never used GPS.
Cherndog

Labs4me,
I think they have new owners about 8 - 10 years ago. I talked to them and some of their customers at the sports show in Minneapolis this spring. They seemed great. We will enjoy the experience either way. I'll let you know how it went.
Cherndog

I don't think they have fixed much

More playas bite the dust. Probably at least 5 more by the sounds of the reports. Gotta be at least the many so I can be out too!

Have faith. You can see progress and ice depth from previous years on the Eagle Docks FB page. They said 16 inches a day or so ago. A few years back they had 16 inches only a week before official ice out. 60s to even 70s next weekend. It will be gone before opener. I'm planning on docks and lifts next weekend, but I am in a small protected bay that goes out pretty early.

We need optimism right now. The small bays haven't even opened up yet, which is typically two weeks before the big bays lose their ice. The forecast is in our favor though and I see that it's windy today, also a great sign.

Go to the DMV, see if there's a serial number on it. They should be able to title it

I moved my blind right into the middle of the field after I left this morning. It sticks out like a sore thumb on the landscape. A friend advised me to try this. We'll see if it works later. I hate the way it looks without blending in, but I have to try something else.

For a long time I've been getting pop-ups and error pages where I have to back page. I just thought it was the price of playing in the old sand lot! 🤔
