Well, the opener is coming up fast and its time to start getting prepared(if your not already) Im curious as to whos going to be out and where you plan on fishing. I think I'll start my day west of the blinker drifting. If thats not working I'll wing it and see what happens. How about everyone else? Stay safe and happy fishin!<P>If you see a boat with a black and white springer spanial hanging over the side give me a wave <P>------------------<BR>"I cut it twice and its still too short"

Boy,it should be a good opener, the locals are pretty quiet!!!!!!!!!!See ya on The Pond,Good fishin' Jigster

I think the opener will be very good, like last year, with BIG female pre-spawn walleyes.<P>Was that a slam on us locals?<p>[This message has been edited by widetrack (edited 05-08-2003).]

Widetrack, are you staying on the west end this weekend?

Posted

Yes, I'll be on the West side.

Posted

I'll look for the Ranger. What kind of motor?

Posted

Blue Ranger. Silver Mariner 175.

Posted

WT, you'll be on Buff bay....correct?<P>Ripper how's that new boat? Do you have the Johnson or the Suzuki 140 on there?<P>Opener is near.....Yippeeeee!<P>Fisky

Posted

New boat is good. Need some more break in time on the Johnson though. Will find out more this weekend in the waves and rollers. Will be on the west side somewhere. How about you? Happy hour Friday and Sat night at our place.

Fisky:<P>Yes, I'll be in the starter pond as my friends like to call it.<P>I'm hoping to pull up on that gravel bar again to see it plump full of big hooks...<P>Wife bought me a custom made Sage rod for opener... can hardly wait to see the first bend in that baby... <p>[This message has been edited by widetrack (edited 05-08-2003).]

FN:<P>You have mail.

When does the pre-fishing end? I would love to do that sometime but some of us have to work.

Posted

Well I hope you get a day or 2 off sometime this summer or I'll have to break that new boat in for you! Slime it up real good anyways! Prefishing is allowed until 2pm tuesday the 20th. The day before the wednesday tourney start. Final days weigh in is 3pm Friday the 23rd. Lot's of the Walleye world's big tournement names are up here for this one and the weigh ins are cooool to see!

I'll have plenty of time this summer. After the second week of June my new address will be Rocky Point. When did they change the pre-fishing rules? I thought it used to be they couldn't fish a period of time right before the tourney. Maybe next weekend I'll put the thumb out at the dock and see if somebody needs a partner. If you run into sombody who needs a partner next weekend I'd be glad to do it.

Ripper,<P>They have always fished right up to the day<BR>before day one.<P>They have closed the lake until 5 days before<BR>the event to pre fishing. Im not sure they<BR>still do that.<P>Good luck Everyone<P><P>------------------<BR>Curt Quesnell<BR>NorthCountry Outdoors Radio

I'll be on Buff. also for the opener! However the "Powerful Magic" will be drydocked til midweek. I just put a buddy's boat in at Thunder's yesterday. The water is low but no problem. All three ramps are open. The dragline has been at work cleaning out the channel. Tim reminded me to stay on the west side. so far it's the deepest part. Sounds like we may get a break in the weather for Sat. I agree with widetrack, it's going to be good!<P>------------------<BR><B>Old Guide Charters</B><BR>Lake of the Woods<BR><A HREF="http://fishingmn.com/oldguidecharters/" TARGET=_blank>http://fishingminnesota.com/oldguidecharters/</A><BR>Call Toll Free:1-800-952-(9484)

Curt, that's what I thought. When did they quit doing that?<P>Ripper,<P>If they arent closing the lakes for pre-fishing anymore I think it is new this year.<P>I really dont see how it can help to look<BR>for fish more than 5 days before a tourney.<BR>Lots of things will change in 5 days..<P>Curt<BR>(how'd I do this?)<p>[This message has been edited by curt quesnell (edited 05-09-2003).]

OG:<P>Thanks for the update on Thunders, just saved me a call. I was worried about their ramps, as someone was saying your trailer would drop off the cement pads... I figured if anyone would have stuff ready though that they will. They run a top notch marina.

Posted

RIP..<P>How's the new ride? It's a little damp out there today so I have a little keyboard time on my hands. So what did you end up gettin into, my bro had heard a fisherman but he didn't know how BIG. I just got the marine set up in mine last night, but for some reason I couldn't pick anyone up in town!! What time are you getting out of town then? We're leaving around 2ish, or between showers seeing that I don't have a transport cover yet. What's your handle on the water? I'll try to give you a shout tomorrow. I think we're starting over at Tommies Bay and working east..LATER..

Posted

Where are you staying? We will be at the trailer and will head out about 4ish. I have a marine radio but haven't put it in yet. I went with an Alumacraft and have liked it so far. Swing on in tonight if you get to that neck of the woods.

Posted

We got the trailer opened up at Springsteel last weekend so that's where we'll be at. I might have to run over your way to pick up my knives and some "perishables" from bablers probably late afternoon, but it looks like I'll be there before you. Where are you going tomorrow?? My cell is 686-1102 if you want to give a call on the water. GOOD FISHIN'

Posted

What lot number are you and who are you going with?

Posted

We're lot #11B. When you hit the 4-way stop, hook a left, then a quick right, then we're down like 6-7 trailers. It will be me, Craig, Weets, and Marie. Stop by on your way through for one! I'll be out of town by around 1:30 or so.

Posted

I may me running back into town to pick up a few things we might forget this evening. Keep your cell on though just in case. Mine is 689-3640

How'd you fellas do?<P>

Posted

The PWT has opened up the fishing past the 5days thing.<P>Will it help? I don't know.<BR>It should give them a couple of extra days to follow fish though. <P>Tight lines Ladies and Gentlemen.<BR>

Curious as to whether or not the lake level recovered a bit after the rain? Any updates would be appreciated. Heading up to Baudette area in a couple of weeks.<P>Thanks.

I don't think they have fixed much

More playas bite the dust.  Probably at least 5 more by the sounds of the reports.  Gotta be at least the many so I can be out too!

Have faith. You can see progress and ice depth from previous years on the Eagle Docks FB page. They said 16 inches a day or so ago.  A few years back they had 16 inches only a week before official ice out.  60s to even 70s next weekend.  It will be gone before opener. I'm planning on docks and lifts next weekend, but I am in a small protected bay that goes out pretty early.

We need optimism right now. The small bays haven't even opened up yet, which is typically two weeks before the big bays lose their ice. The forecast is in our favor though and I see that it's windy today, also a great sign.

Go to the DMV, see if there's a serial number on it. They should be able to title it

I moved my blind right into the middle of the field after I left this morning.  It sticks out like a sore thumb on the landscape.  A friend advised me to try this.  We'll see if it works later.  I hate the way it looks without blending in, but I have to try something else.

Im getting a ton of them also. So bad that I have to back out of the site and retry. Anyway to prevent them?

For a long time I've been getting pop-ups and error pages where I have to back page. I just thought it was the price of playing in the old sand lot! 🤔
