Peterson has a tattoo on his arm that says "the diesel". I think it's his nickname from H.S. or college.

Lets face it this really really bugs Packer Fans. You can always tell when they're mad when we start hearing the same Ole same Ole talking points "gibberish" like "well your not going to win the Super Bowl like we did with Favre" and other overly redundant material.

Wow way to go out on limb and predict the Vikings won't win the Super Bowl like 99 percent of all teams manage to do every year!

How about this one the New England Patriots won't win the Super Bowl this year..."shocking"

Go Favre and too bad Haters!...LOL

My two favorite people in the world to watch compete are/were Larry Bird and Brett Favre. It was sad to watch Larry at the end when wanted to but couldn't. Favre on the other hand, when he wanted to last year, could. Can he still? You bet.

As a Packer fan, this sucks. If Favre does well, the Vikings are going to win, alot. If Favre doesn't play well, the bandwagon nation of purple pride will tar and feather him with no remorse.

My only question...can you cheer the pass and boo the completion?

Coach Brad Childress was spotted at the Vikings' Winter Park facility at 7AM Thursday morning, indicating that he may never have visited free agent Brett Favre in Mississippi Wednesday.

This is getting bizarre. Multiple outlets reported that Favre and Chilly dined late Wednesday and would continue talks Thursday. A signing remains fairly likely, but perhaps the two won't meet until later Thursday or Friday.

Is George Blanda still alive? He's probably in a walker, but with a good enough O-line and a bit of Viagara you Queens might find a QB with enough stuff to get you back to the Super Bowl. gringringrin

Winning it? Welllllll . . . maybe you ought to leave that to the teams who know how. winkwink

Hey, don't forget about 38 y.o. Kurt Warner....talk about a complete washout who needs to hang-up the cleats and let the young guy take over! The old guy has a broken hip and he's still playing. I feel sorry for all of those Cardinal players having to carry him all the way to the Superbowl. crazy

I doubt Chilly and Favre met last night. There isn't one confirmed siting of Childress in Mississippi yesterday. If he was there, wouldn't there be photos of it everywhere? This circus needs to stop.

That is a tough choice. A choice between a guy who says to himself now where did I drop that ball or the other guy that says I think I can still drill this ball at the guy who is only 15 ft away woops! wrong guy I must be getting old oh well.

The latest breaking news states that Favre will remain retired, whatever that means for him has yet to be determined.

I heard talks about Marino coming back to play for the Vikes since he lost all the weight on nurtisystem he claims he is good to play. (I think he is bitter and wants his records back that Favre broke)

Anyone wanting this to happen?

Because I really don't I mean I'm a fan of Brett Favre but I just think that this is a bad deal for him. I mean are they actually going to play him or just use him as a teacher to Jackson? Then again he could really be what the Vikings are needing for a super bowl win.

We've been discussing this for quite awhile in the thread on this same page titled "Favre." smilesmile

Accroding to Yahoo sports he's staying retired. It states that Childress and Favre spoke on the phone yesterday and Favre said he is staying retired. Thats why Childress didn't fly to Mississippi last night like reports were saying.

What would the media do without ol' Favre?

IF he ends up in MN, the rumor about him wanting to get as far away from professional football as possible will come true grin

Very low, probably 2 feet lower than last year at ice out.

what do they look like this spring?
    • SkunkedAgain
I might have missed a guess, but here are the ones that I noted:   JerkinLips – March 27th, then April 7th Brianf. – March 28th Bobberwatcher – April…. MikeG3Boat – April 10th SkunkedAgain – early April, then April 21st   Definitely a tough year for guesses, as it seemed to be a no-brainer early ice out. Then it got cold and snowed again.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!
    • Brianf.
Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
