T-jack will not be the starter.. You dont sign a guy to be a backup at 3.mill a yr like they did sage.. They say there will be a qb battle in camp, but truthfully there wont be.. sage will be your starter

How in the heck can Beeker Clayton predict who the opening day starter is going to be when they havent even thought about packing for training camp. Beeker must be having a slow news day to report "breaking" stories like that one.

He said it was from several sources who claim Chilly is still in love with TJack and wants to prove everyone wrong with his pick of a few years ago. God, I hope we sign Favre!!

Supposedly the Vikings want an answer by the end of the week on what Favre is going to do.

Good luck with that!

If I was Chilly looking at the QB's currently on the roster I wouldn't be pushing the issue real hard. In fact, I'd take Favre with open arms a day before the season started just so I wouldn't have to throw another season away with horrible options such as Jackson or Rosenfels!

Maybe they want an answer now, so they can still have a chance to trade and sign a real QB yet this year.

Na, that's Chilly bet Chilly, he's pig headed. Fine with me, don't want Favre anyway.

I'm kinda hoping he will go with T-Junk, then they can both go bu-bye at the end of the year.

Problem with that is that is that many more miles put on Petersons odometer while trying to carry T-Jack.

I hear you on that. But we have to get rid of Chilly and T-Junk before we either a)loose Peterson or b)turn him into the next Barry Sanders.

If you want booty you're going to have to make a phone call.

Booty won't see the field unless Sage and tjack both get hurt.

Why are so many on the booty bandwagon? We haven't seen anything from this kid

Are people getting on the Booty bandwagon cuz of the Vikings Linebacker that said good things about him on KFarve??

Because we have seen what T-jack can do and Booty cant be much worse? Can he?

I get that, I just don't think he's the one to take the team deep in the playoffs yet. Maybe down the road.

I'll give it to Bruledrifter, he's been saying BOOTY for like a year now, with where are team is right now, we don't have time to try and develop someone who hasn't taken any meaningful snaps in the NFL. We need a QB who has some experience, it's that simple.

T-jack and Sage have experience, but they are not what we need. We may go 10-6, 11-5 or what have you and there is no way either one of them will take the next step and bring the viks deep into the playoffs. Hopefully next Janurary I am eating some crow, but I have a good feeling that I wont be.

I call for Booty only because it's something new.

Obviously, T-Jack isn't working..... Sage Rosenfels???? Are you flippin kidding me? I'm completely against any thought of Fav-Rah! I don't care what he's done, it doesn't change the fact he's a Green Bay Packer for life and I guess I still have a little home town pride left in me. The last thing I want to hear is a Packer fan gloat about how it took Fav-Rah to lead us to the Bowl, ect.... sick(Not that I even believe he would anyway due to the fact he's DONE!!! WASHED UP! RETIRE D@m it!) At best, he would get us to the playoffs and we would lose anyway, we can do that with any of the other bums we have thowing the ball, even BOOTY!!!!!! wink

We should have jumped on Cassell, or Cutler.. or an even better idea was we should have kept Thigpen, or done more to get him back after KC got Cassell.

Childress is a joke and our team will reflect that as long as he is our coach!

(I will gladly enjoy that crow if I am wrong! However, I also believe I am not)

Who knows what will happen between now and preseason... What I do know is that the Vikes will win the division no matter who is taking the snaps... wink

At first I thought the Favre thing would be great. Now I have changed completely. We don't need him. With our talent I think that TJ or Sage will have a chance to turn into something. IF the off. line can give them a little time. TJ didn't have anytime last year which made him look worse than he is. Good luck to them. I can't wait, it should be a great season.

For me if we want to have a good season this year, we need Farve. Sage could learn from farve also. I think they could just as well trade TJ for something.

i don't think that trade would be good for the reputation we are trying to build...a bag of peanuts is a little to high of an asking price....we don't want everyone thinking we are a bunch of scammers!

Very low, probably 2 feet lower than last year at ice out.

what do they look like this spring?
    • SkunkedAgain
I might have missed a guess, but here are the ones that I noted:   JerkinLips – March 27th, then April 7th Brianf. – March 28th Bobberwatcher – April…. MikeG3Boat – April 10th SkunkedAgain – early April, then April 21st   Definitely a tough year for guesses, as it seemed to be a no-brainer early ice out. Then it got cold and snowed again.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!

Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
