BTW, you guys can say all you want about him not being a clutch hitter, I would much rather have him at the dish than Go Go in a clutch situation

How can he still be batting only .259?

Because he's not hitting .259 closer to .270 He was 4-6 with a 3 run dong and 4 runs scored today. He's on fire again but thats Cuddy hot or cold seems to be his moto.

Good Points Gary. Cuddys on Pace for 24 HR's and 100 RBI.

I'll see if I can dig up some more Crow for these guys later Tonight! grin

Now you want to create a "garbage" avg for the books. I don't care how big the score, you still have to hit the ball whether its 1-0 or 20-0.

Sled he is now hitting .275 Oh ya I forgot, that is a garbage avg. my bad NOT.....

True but we need those hits more in the 1 - 0 games than we do in the 20 - 1 games. (The twins have outscored their opponents cumulative the last seven games but the w/l record is 1 - 6.) It's too bad the whole team couldn't have spared a few of todays runs and used them against the yankees and the first two games against the sox. Here's to hoping that today gets them out of their funk.

hes made weak throws from all positions

I was more impressed with span's fielding last season

I was wondering does the 3 Run BOMB Cuddy just hit in the bottom of the 1st in a tie game against the hottest team in baseball fall under mop-up, clutch or some other Batting stat????

KABOOM!

Edit: Hit #2 "laser double" raises Cuddy up to .283 for the moment!

Edit again: sharp single to center and a triple away from the cycle. Currently hitting .288, then again its a mop up game now!... grin

Edit: SHIZ-ZAM..its the CYCLE for Cuddy!!!!!!!!! .291 AVG..

I vote we keep him around for just a bit longer... at least until after he plays in this years All Start Game ... grin

I am a fan of Cuddy and I think he earns his money in the field and in the locker room. I think The fact that the M & M brothers are back together and smashing the ball is the main reason Cuddy is doing better. Those two make everyone better, except maybe Punto grin

7.66 million will be a bargain if he stays on the pace he's on now.

PB,

LOL, loved your post.....but, the "slammers" aren't talking right now. The Twin's really missed Cuddy's bat last year, and early this season, before he got the rust off his swing. Now look at the runs they are scoring, with a power bat behind M&M. Makes the pitching staff look a lot better, too. Crede gives them more depth from the right side, and a "mistake" gets hit a loooong way. I don't see Gardy changing the line-up anytime soon...... grin

As far as the original topic on this thread.....NO man is "worth" that kind of $. Not even the best player in the game (whoever you think that is), but with the competition for players and all the $ in the industry, you better pay a competetive salary to the good ones, if you want to improve your team. And YES, HE IS ONE OF THE GOOD ONES.

hit for the cycle last night. Things are looking up if they keep hitting like this!

BTW, I was thinking this morning, how often a team has 2 people or same person hit for a cycle 2 times in a single season, then Yahoo (in an article on their site) answered my question- only one other time this decade has it happened- in 2003 teammates Vlad Guererro and Brad Wilkerson did it for the Expos.

2 Twins did it in 1976- Larry Hisle and Lyman Bostock. Very rare

he's playing very well again. seems that cuddy is a micro version of the entire team. he and the team can look so good at home but for some reason once they hit the road, it's a different story.

they just have to figure out how to play better on the road to make a serious run this year; and of course there's that little issue with the bullpen that needs to be addressed. don't suppose the rays would be interested in a do over on that little trade that occurred two years ago? heck, we could always throw in a heck of a defensive ss to sweeten the deal

why should I apologize?

2 months do not make a season

I knew you weren't apologizing.

You should have but I knew you wouldn't. So I did it for you and if you have to ask why... well never mind!

He should finish with over 25 dingers and close to 100 rbi. Unless Morneau cleans the bases ahead of him and leaves nothing for Cuddy to drive in. smile

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
